Civil Engineer, Geotechnical Engineer, Quantity Surveyor

My 4.5-yr experience in the College of Engineering has helped me develop the necessary skills to effectively write and present a technical report. I have a great grasp of writing ranging from simple reports to journal articles to thesis papers.

In relation to my leadership skills, one thing that makes our team dynamic well in our group is the communication skills I intend to impart and deliver to the people I work with. Communicating is a thing, but doing it effectively is another element. In the team setup, I always initiate the delegation of tasks, interchange of work status, and communication of feedback and suggestions.

During my time in college, I was often delegated as the group representative and team leader. Perhaps, it is due to my initiative and drive to manage our work early and delegate tasks efficiently. I am very much willing to support others and take extra responsibility for the team if deemed necessary. Much, if not all, of the group work I have into, has produced great work and demonstrated good team dynamics and communication. In my organizations, I also functioned as a Board of Director in one of the major, home organizations in CE here in our university.

My internship during my undergraduate years was centered on Project Management and Quantity Surveying. I was deployed at Manila Water Company, Inc., and my primary task there was to monitor and ensure the proper implementation of construction management and safety following the OSH standards and quality assurance by the company. Creation of reports, constant communication with the Site Engineers and Project Manager, and quarterback meetings were other duties relevant to my internship experience.

Though structural engineering was not my specialization in Civil Engineering, I was able to acquire in-depth analysis of and experience in the field during my undergraduate years at UPD. The university itself offers comprehensive and strenuous courses for structural engineering, learning and implementing complex structural matrix analysis, continuum mechanics, and structural theory, among others. I was also assigned design projects, such as the creation of a school building, which required us to learn SAP2000 software and create a structural design report for the project.

I am a Civil Engineering Major, specializing in the Geotechnical and Soil Engineering field. As specified in my work biography, my undergraduate research is focused on soil structure interaction, settlement, and foundations. Much of my time in the university was devoted to exploring the geotechnical engineering field and applying the learned principles in the actual construction industry. I have learned to create in-depth geotechnical reports and design projects relevant to the field. Nevertheless, I rated myself 4/5 stars as I believe I could still improve and learn more since there are more aspects and gray areas to be discovered in this field.
