About the role
Calimingo Pools is a US-based pool design and construction company. We're hiring our first dedicated HR generalist to support our US team — including project managers, subcontractors, and operations staff.
This is a hands-on role covering recruiting, HR operations, onboarding, and employee support. You'll work directly with the founder and management team, helping us build out the people side of the business as we grow. It's a great fit for someone who has worked with US companies before, understands US HR standards, and can wear multiple hats.
What you'll do
Recruiting
Source candidates through LinkedIn, Indeed, and other US job boards
Write and post job descriptions optimized for US candidates
Screen inbound applications and conduct initial phone/video screens
Coordinate interviews between candidates and hiring managers
Maintain candidate pipeline in our tracking system
Conduct reference checks on finalist candidates
Onboarding and offboarding
Coordinate offer letters and new-hire paperwork
Set up new hires in our HR and payroll systems (in coordination with our payroll agency)
Manage onboarding checklists and first-week logistics
Handle exit paperwork and offboarding when employees leave
HR operations
Maintain employee records and personnel files
Track time-off requests, certifications, and key dates (anniversaries, reviews, renewals)
Coordinate with our US payroll agency on employee changes (new hires, terminations, status updates)
Support documentation for W-2 employees and 1099 contractor relationships
Help maintain employee handbook and HR policies (drafting and updating with management input)
Flag compliance concerns (classification, pay transparency, multi-state issues) to management
Employee support
First point of contact for routine employee questions (PTO, paperwork, basic policy questions)
Coordinate communication between employees and management on HR matters
Escalate sensitive issues (complaints, terminations, legal questions) to management
General admin
Maintain HR-related vendor relationships (job boards, background check providers, ATS)
Prepare reports on hiring activity, headcount, and HR metrics
Other HR and people-operations tasks as needed
Required
3+ years of HR experience, with at least 1 year supporting a US-based company
Working knowledge of US HR standards and employment practices, including:
Difference between W-2 employees and 1099 contractors
Basic understanding of multi-state HR requirements (different states have different rules)
What questions are legal vs. illegal to ask in US interviews
Awareness of pay transparency laws (CA, NY, CO, WA) and at-will employment
Familiarity with I-9, W-4, and standard US onboarding documents
Strong written English — you'll be writing to US candidates, employees, and vendors
Spoken English suitable for conducting candidate screens and employee conversations with US professionals
Comfortable with HR/recruiting tools — LinkedIn, ATS systems (Greenhouse, Lever, Workable, BambooHR, or similar), Google Workspace
Organized and detail-oriented — HR involves a lot of moving pieces and deadlines
Discretion with confidential information (employee data, compensation, performance issues)
Reliable internet, quiet workspace for video calls, and a working webcam
Nice to have
PHRi, SHRM-CP, or other HR certifications
Experience supporting construction, contracting, or trades businesses
Experience working with US payroll providers (Gusto, ADP, Paychex)
Familiarity with US contractor classification rules (IRS, ABC test, AB5)
Prior experience with PH-to-US remote work setups

Your hourly or monthly rate expectation
Your earliest start date and weekly availability
The phrase "I read the full job post" at the top of your message — this helps us filter out generic applications
Applications without all five items will not be reviewed.
