JOB OVERVIEW

Remote, Philippines | Part-time, long-term | US Evening hours

BEFORE YOU APPLY: Read this entire post. The first line of your application MUST start with the phrase "REDLINE-READY" followed by your favorite two-digit number (for example, "REDLINE-READY 27"). Applications that skip this step are auto-rejected without review.

ABOUT THE ROLE
We are a U.S. underground fiber-optic construction company. Every evening our field crews (called "foremen") finish their digging and send in "redline" reports. These are marked-up screenshots of engineering prints where the crew highlights the section of pipe they installed that day and writes the footage by hand.

Your job is to turn those daily screenshots into clean records: read the footage and location off each redline, transcribe it onto the master project PDF, double-check that everything reads correctly, and log it in our Excel tracker by foreman, work type, and footage. Accuracy matters, because these numbers feed our weekly billing.

This is a recurring daily task (about 1 to 2 hours per evening). It is the first thing we want off our plate, and there is room to grow into more work for the right person.

WHAT YOU WILL DO EACH DAY
- Collect the day's redline screenshots from each foreman (they arrive around 8:00 PM US time).
- Read each redline: identify the highlighted (bored) section, read the handwritten footage number, and identify which print section or tag it belongs to.
- Transcribe those footage amounts onto the master "After" PDF for the job.
- Double-check your reading against the print to catch mis-reads or numbers that do not line up.
- Log each entry in our Excel workbook: one row per entry (Date, Foreman, Work Type which is Bore or Structure, Footage, Notes).
- Flag anything unclear or inconsistent instead of guessing.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR (MUST-HAVES)
- Strong Excel skills. You are comfortable with data entry, SUMIFS/SUMIF, filtering, and spotting when a total does not match.
- Ability to read technical prints or drawings. You can look at a map-style engineering print and figure out which section a marked-up area refers to.
- Good written and spoken English. You can read instructions, ask clear questions, and explain what you see.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving. You notice when numbers do not add up and you investigate rather than guess.
- Reliable evening availability and a stable internet connection.

NICE TO HAVE
- Experience with construction, telecom, fiber/FTTX, utilities, GIS, or CAD/as-built drawings.
- Experience as a virtual assistant doing data entry or document QC.
- Familiarity with Adobe Acrobat annotation tools

SCHEDULE AND PAY
- Type: Part-time, ongoing (long-term).
- Hours: About 1 to 2 hours per evening, starting after redlines arrive (around 8:00 PM US time). Roughly 5 days per week.
- Pay: $3 to $5 per hour depending on experience, with a paid trial period and raises as you take on more.
- Growth: Additional tasks and more hours available for a reliable, accurate performer.

HOW TO APPLY (READ CAREFULLY)
We use a simple multi-step filter so we only spend time on serious, capable applicants. Complete ALL four steps. Incomplete applications are not reviewed.

1. Passphrase. Start your message with "REDLINE-READY" plus your favorite two-digit number.

2. Screening questions. Answer the questions below briefly and honestly.

3. Skill check. Reply that you are willing to complete a short (about 20 to 30 minute) paid skill test where you read a few sample redlines and do a small Excel task. We send it to shortlisted applicants.

4. Short video. Record a 2 to 3 minute video (Loom or Google Drive link) speaking in English. Introduce yourself, describe your Excel experience, and explain in your own words how you would read a marked-up construction print to find the footage. We want to hear your English and your thinking. It does not need to be polished.

SCREENING QUESTIONS (answer in your application)

1. On a scale of 1 to 10, how strong are your Excel skills, and what is the most advanced thing you have built or done in Excel?

2. Have you ever read technical drawings, blueprints, maps, or engineering prints? Describe where and how.

3. You read a redline and the handwritten footage looks like it could be "730" or "780." What do you do?

4. What are your typical available hours in US Eastern or Central time?

5. Confirm your internet speed and that you have a reliable computer.

We reply to every complete, genuine application. Thank you for taking the time. We are looking for a long-term teammate, not just a quick gig.
