We're looking for an organized, resourceful, and proactive person to help support the growth of an independent cinematic folk artist and music business based in Los Angeles.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys creating structure, managing projects, conducting research, and helping creative projects move forward. You'll work directly with artist, songwriter, accordionist, and bandleader Melinda West across music releases, content organization, artist operations, and live-performance business activities.
This is not a traditional virtual assistant role. We are looking for someone who enjoys ownership, problem-solving, and helping build systems that support a growing creative business.
Starting commitment: 10-15 hours per week
Compensation: $6-$8/hour depending on experience, with opportunities for increased responsibilities, hours, and compensation over time.
Primary responsibilities include:
• Music release coordination and tracking
• Research (playlists, media, artists, opportunities, venues, and industry contacts)
• Spreadsheet management and organization
•
• Content asset organization and content support
• Booking and lead tracking support, some CRM
• Google Drive and file organization
• Administrative and project coordination
•Some marketing and optimization
• AI-assisted research and workflow support
We're especially interested in candidates who are:

• Comfortable using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini

What Success Looks Like
After 3-6 months, a successful coordinator will:
• Keep key project trackers updated and organized
• Help ensure music releases stay on schedule
• Conduct research projects with minimal supervision
• Help maintain an organized content and asset library
• Support booking and follow-up processes
• Communicate clearly and proactively
• Help create more structure and consistency across a growing music business

About the Artist
I'
In addition to my original artist project, I also operate a small live-performance business that includes private events and seasonal bands. This role will primarily support my original music career while occasionally assisting with related music-business projects.
