Wanted: Experienced YouTube Video Editor
I'm looking for an experienced second video editor to join my team for a growing YouTube channel.
This position is specifically for an editor with experience editing talking-head YouTube videos. My content is educational and commentary-based, so I'm looking for someone who understands pacing, viewer retention, and how to make a person speaking directly to the camera engaging.
Initially, this position will be on an as-needed basis while working alongside my current editor. As the channel continues to grow, I expect there to be opportunities for additional ongoing work.
Most finished videos are 10-15 minutes long. I'll provide the raw video/audio along with a completed script. Your primary responsibility is to create a polished edit by matching the footage to the script, selecting the best takes, tightening the pacing, and enhancing the video with graphics, B-roll, zooms, and other visual elements where appropriate.
The raw recordings are typically much longer because I record multiple takes. In most cases, the final takes are the best ones, so editors who carefully follow the script will find the workflow straightforward.
Requirements:
- At least 5 years of professional video editing experience
- Proven experience editing talking-head YouTube videos
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent English comprehension
- Able to meet deadlines consistently
- Comfortable receiving feedback and making revisions
- Reliable internet connection and computer
Bonus Skills:
- Motion graphics
- B-roll selection
- Sound cleanup and audio balancing
- Color correction
- Understanding of YouTube pacing and viewer retention
I'm looking for someone who takes pride in producing polished work, communicates well, and is interested in building a long-term working relationship.
