We’re a healthcare startup looking for an experienced engineer who builds with AI coding agents at the centre of their workflow. The way we work is close to language- and framework-agnostic: you’ll be driving Claude Code daily, working from well-defined tickets, and using deep engineering judgment to steer, review, and correct what the agent produces. We care far more about how you think about systems than which framework is on your CV.
This is a full-time role with real ownership of feature delivery from day one. You’ll be a valued part of a small, focused team.
What you’ll do
> Take features from a Linear ticket and business requirements through to a reviewed, tested, merged pull request
> Drive Claude Code expertly — scoping work for it, reviewing its output critically, and stepping in with hands-on code when needed
> Manage and prioritise Linear issues based on your judgement of severity and user needs
> Design and evolve the application using DRY principles and best-practice UX for intuitive UI
> Build and integrate APIs and third-party services
> Good housekeeping! Ensure the codebase is clean and maintainable, and keep our tickets and documentation honest and current
> Work within our established workflow: small scoped changes, code review, CI, and clearly documented updates on every ticket
What we’re looking for
> 5+ years building real web applications — enough scar tissue that you can tell when code is right, not just when it runs
Fluency with Claude Code (or equivalent AI coding agents): you already build this way, and you know the failure modes well enough not to trust output blindly
> Strong systems thinking: you can hold a whole application in your head and reason about data models, edge cases, and knock-on effects
> Solid data fundamentals: schema design, migrations, and keeping data clean
> Comfortable across the stack in modern JavaScript/TypeScript — but adaptable, because our stack is a detail, not the job
> Disciplined, ticket-driven working style and excellent written English; you ask the sharp clarifying question before you write code, not after.
> Able to work with meaningful overlap with Australian business hours (AEST/AEDT)
> Excellent written and verbal English communication
Nice to have
> Experience as a lead or sole engineer on a product
> Real-time or collaborative application features
> Startup or other fast-moving environments
> Healthcare or other regulated-domain experience
