JOB OVERVIEW

POSITION SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of the ESTIMATOR is to develop, evaluate, compile, and develop scopes of work and cost data for restoration, reconstruction, renovations, T.I.s, new construction, and capital improvement projects.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Visit job sites to gather information for bidding.
• Identify and understand associated project risk factors.
• Create cost estimates, studies, analyses, and evaluations, at all levels of project development independently and as a part of a team.
• Perform quantity take-off in a manner and level of detail consistent with the project goals.
• Review construction drawings, specifications, and other technical documentation to provide timely feedback and help prepare a schedule, cost, materials, and labor estimates for restoration and modification projects. Review for constructability as well.
• Value Engineering and cost-effectiveness input.
• Input estimate data into appropriate templates or software.
• Communicate effectively through clear and concise means appropriate to the project’s goals (verbal, written, and graphics).
• Investigate and incorporate project constraints into cost analysis.
• Review contractor and subcontractor change order estimates.
• Conduct or attend cost reconciliation meetings.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required. BA/BS desired or (3) years in construction or restoration/remediation estimating, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE ABILITY: Must be able to communicate (orally and written) in English, in a professional manner on a regular basis with prospective clients, staff, management and co-workers within the company as well as with outside vendors. Follows instructions and responds well to management’s direction. Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred.



REASONING ABILITY: Ability to read, understand and navigate specifications, drawings, and materials.

COMPUTER SKILLS: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software; spreadsheet software; accounting software; payroll systems; human resource systems and database software.

CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES: Must have valid CA driver's license and automobile insurance coverage at the level required by law. Xactimate Level 1 Certification. PMP certificate, IICRC certificate and OSHA certificate a plus.
