JOB OVERVIEW

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM US Eastern Time (fixed overnight shift for Philippines-based applicants; apply only if you can sustain this schedule long-term)
Compensation: $2,000 USD per month, paid weekly via Wise

About the Role
MeetBookkeepers is a US-based outsourced accounting firm. We are hiring a Controller to own the full accounting function for a premium wine retail client in New York. This is a single-account leadership role: you run the client's financial operations end to end, supervise a dedicated AP Specialist, and serve as the quality layer over all financial output before it reaches firm management. You report to the firm, not the client.
Responsibilities

Perform daily bank reconciliations across 3 bank accounts and 1 credit card account in NetSuite
Own the monthly close: journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and close checklist completion on a fixed calendar
Prepare monthly financial statements: P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow Statement, delivered on schedule and review-ready
Maintain inventory accounting integrity: cost of goods sold, inventory valuation, shrinkage and adjustment entries, and tie-out of inventory subledger to the GL
Manage and review the work of the dedicated AP Specialist, including approval of payment queues before release
Maintain the integrity of the NetSuite general ledger: chart of accounts, vendor and customer records, subledger tie-outs
Monitor cash position daily and flag liquidity concerns to firm management immediately
Identify and correct posting errors, sync discrepancies, and process gaps without waiting to be asked
Serve as the escalation point for the AP Specialist on anything unusual: duplicate bills, altered payment instructions, vendor pressure

Requirements

Expert-level NetSuite proficiency. This is non-negotiable. You must be fluent in the GL, subledgers, inventory modules, reconciliation tools, financial reporting, and saved searches. You will be asked to walk through your NetSuite experience in detail
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including full ownership of a monthly close
Hands-on inventory accounting experience: COGS, valuation methods, inventory reconciliation, and adjustments in a product-based business
Experience with liquor, wine, spirits, or beverage distribution businesses strongly preferred; familiarity with alcohol industry purchasing and inventory practices is a significant advantage
Proven experience preparing complete financial statement packages, including cash flow statements
Prior experience supervising or reviewing the work of other accounting staff
Excellent written and spoken English; you will communicate directly with firm management on financial matters
Reliable overnight availability, stable internet, backup power solution
Prior experience at an outsourced accounting firm or BPO serving US clients preferred

How to Apply
Send a short cover note in English describing your NetSuite experience in specific terms (modules used, close processes owned, reporting built), your inventory accounting background, the size and complexity of the largest accounting function you have managed, and confirmation you can work the overnight schedule. Applications without the cover note will not be reviewed.
