AI Engineer (OpenAI Integration & Backend Development)

We are building an AI Design Studio for our Shopify website.

The AI assistant will allow customers to upload a photo of their house or interior, answer a few guided questions, and generate realistic architectural design concepts using Alleagle building products.

This role focuses entirely on the AI system and backend integration.

The Shopify frontend will be handled separately.

Responsibilities
Design and develop the AI backend.
Integrate OpenAI Responses API for conversational AI.
Integrate OpenAI GPT Image API for AI image generation.
Build secure backend APIs for communication with Shopify.
Process uploaded customer images.
Generate dynamic prompts based on customer selections.
Return AI-generated renderings to the Shopify frontend.
Connect the AI system with our product database.
Ensure fast, secure, and scalable performance.
Work closely with the Shopify developer to integrate the frontend.
Required Skills
Strong experience with OpenAI APIs.
Experience with AI image generation.
Backend development using Node.js (Express/NestJS) or Python (FastAPI).
REST API development.
Cloud deployment (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or DigitalOcean).
Image processing and file handling.
Git and version control.
Preferred Skills
Experience building AI applications.
Experience integrating AI into e-commerce platforms.
Knowledge of prompt engineering.
Experience with architecture or interior design AI applications is a plus.
Version 1 Scope

The first version will include:

AI conversation
Customer image upload
Product selection
Style selection
Colour selection
AI image generation
Display of products used

Quotation, BOQ generation, and material estimation are not part of Version 1.

Collaboration

The AI Engineer will work together with the Shopify Developer.

Shopify Developer: Frontend and website integration.
AI Engineer: AI system, backend, APIs, and OpenAI integration.
