WordPress Expert / Custom Platform Developer (Long-Term, Remote)

We are looking for a high-level WordPress expert who can build, customize, and maintain advanced WordPress websites and platforms, not just basic themes or page builders.
You will be working on custom WordPress platforms, including feature-heavy systems similar to Apexium — a proprietary, credit-driven automation and services platform with dashboards, gated access, workflows, and custom logic.
This role is ideal for someone who understands WordPress at a developer level, not just design.
What You’ll Be Working On
Building and maintaining custom WordPress websites
Developing custom WordPress features and functionality
Creating membership systems, gated content, and user dashboards
Implementing credit-based or usage-based systems
Custom plugin development and modification
Advanced form integrations and workflows
Performance optimization, security, and scalability
Ongoing maintenance and feature updates
Working with automation tools, APIs, and third-party integrations
Required Skills (Must Have)
Advanced WordPress experience (not beginner or page-builder only)
Strong knowledge of:
PHP
WordPress hooks, actions, filters
Custom post types & custom fields
User roles & permissions
Experience building custom WordPress features or platforms
Ability to modify or create custom plugins
Experience with membership systems or SaaS-style platforms
Solid understanding of MySQL / database structure
Ability to troubleshoot, debug, and optimize WordPress sites
Strong communication and ability to follow detailed instructions
Nice to Have (Big Plus)
Experience with:
Credit-based systems
Usage tracking systems
Automation tools (APIs, webhooks, CRON jobs)
GoHighLevel, custom dashboards, or SaaS-style WordPress platforms
UI/UX awareness (clean, modern layouts)
Experience maintaining large WordPress installations
Familiarity with hosting, DNS, and server-level issues
