We are an AI marketing firm based in Atlanta, Georgia. We specialize in Generative Engine Optimization, helping local businesses appear in AI-generated search results on ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity, and Microsoft Copilot. We are building a scalable service delivery operation and need a technically strong web developer to implement backend fixes that make our clients' websites readable, crawlable, and citable by AI search engines.
This is not a design role. This is a technical implementation role focused on schema markup, site performance, crawlability, structured data, and CMS-level content publishing. You will receive clear task lists generated from our OtterlyAI audit platform and execute them precisely.
What You Will Do
Schema Markup Implementation (Primary Focus)
This is the most important technical task in our service delivery. You will build and deploy JSON-LD structured data for every client website. Every new client requires a complete schema implementation in Month 1. Ongoing clients receive schema updates as their services or information changes.
Specific schema types you will implement regularly:
LocalBusiness schema with full NAP data (name, address, phone), service area, business hours, geo coordinates, and founding date where available. Service schema for each individual service a client offers, linked to the parent LocalBusiness entity. FAQPage schema on all key service pages. BreadcrumbList schema for site navigation. Review and AggregateRating schema where client has verifiable review data. OpeningHoursSpecification for businesses with complex or 24/7 schedules, which is critical for HVAC and towing clients.
All schema is implemented as JSON-LD in the page head. Never inline RDFa. Test every implementation using Google's Rich Results Test and
AI Crawlability Fixes
You will receive crawlability reports from OtterlyAI identifying technical barriers preventing AI bots from reading client websites. Your job is to resolve each flagged item.
Common fixes you will execute:
Robots.txt audits and corrections. Many client websites block GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, or other AI crawlers either intentionally or by a
WordPress and CMS Implementation
The majority of our clients are on WordPress. Some may be on Wix, Squarespace, or custom HTML sites. You will:
Publish GEO-optimized content written by our Claude AI workflow. Content arrives formatted and ready. Your job is to publish it correctly with proper heading structure (H1, H2, H3 hierarchy), internal links to relevant service pages, meta title and meta description populated, correct category and tag assignments, and featured image added if provided.
Install and configure Yoast SEO or Rank Math on WordPress sites that do not already have an SEO plugin. Configure site-wide settings: organization schema at site level, social profiles linked, XML sitemap enabled.
Create new service pages when our content team produces content for services a client has not previously featured on their website. These pages need to match the existing site design, load correctly on mobile, and pass the OtterlyAI crawlability check before being marked complete.
Monthly Technical Maintenance
Each month you will receive a short technical task list per active client based on the latest OtterlyAI audit recommendations. Typical monthly tasks include updating schema when client hours, services, or pricing changes, fixing any crawlability issues flagged in the weekly audit, publishing new content articles produced by the VA and Claude workflow, and verifying that previously implemented schema is still valid and rendering correctly.
You will log all completed tasks in our shared Google Sheet client tracker with the date completed and any notes for the team.
Occasional Development Projects
As we grows you may be asked to build simple landing pages for specific service areas, implement tracking pixels for Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager, connect client websites to Google Business Profile APIs for automated data syncing, and support the eventual integration of OtterlyAI API data into client reporting dashboards.
Tools and Technologies
You must be proficient in these before applying:
WordPress (theme editing, plugin configuration, page publishing, settings management)
JSON-LD schema markup (LocalBusiness, Service, FAQPage, BreadcrumbList at minimum)
HTML and CSS (sufficient to edit page templates and fix rendering issues)
Google Search Console (sitemap submission, crawl error identification, index coverage review)
Bing Webmaster Tools (sitemap submission, crawl verification)
Google Rich Results Test and
robots.txt configuration
Basic JavaScript debugging (sufficient to identify JS-rendered content problems)
Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager (basic implementation)
Familiarity with these is a strong advantage:
Yoast SEO or Rank Math plugin configuration
Core Web Vitals optimization
Cloudflare or similar CDN configuration
Wix, Squarespace, or Webflow (for non-WordPress clients)
Google Business Profile API

Who You Are
You are technically precise. Schema errors, unclosed tags, and broken robots.txt configurations are things you catch before they cause problems, not after.
You are fast but not careless. Our clients pay monthly retainers and their monthly deliverables need to go out on schedule. You understand deadlines and communicate proactively when something will take longer than expected.
You can work from a task list without needing to redesign everything. We are not asking you to rebuild client websites. We are asking you to implement specific technical improvements to existing sites. You follow the brief exactly and ask for clarification before making assumptions.
You understand why the technical work you are doing matters to AI search. You do not need to be a GEO expert, but you should understand at the level of "schema markup helps AI tools understand what this business is and where it is" so you can make intelligent decisions when the task list has ambiguity.
You communicate in English clearly and professionally. You will interact with the team lead and occasionally with the VA team. Written communication needs to be clean and unambiguous.
