Are you a creative and organized virtual assistant who is comfortable working in a digital environment? If so, join our dynamic media team and play a pivotal role in the growth and management of our blogs Bagels and Lasagna (
We’re looking for a virtual assistant who is proficient in speaking, reading and writing English and knows English grammar — for example, what an Oxford or serial comma is — and online publishing formatting, such as the difference between an en dash and an em dash.
You’ll be handling a wide-array of tasks in an online environment, including:
* Working with text and images in Wordpress and Canva
* Updating pre-formatted spreadsheets using Google Sheets
* Sharing content on social media, including Flipboard and MSN.
* Using prompts I create for Chat GPT (or another AI program) to generate headlines, text and other information you’ll use to update blog posts
* Discussing tasks and communicating via Slack
* Taking on new tasks by watching Loom training videos and working in corresponding Google Docs.
Skills and equipment needed:
* Experience with Google Docs and Sheets.
* A Gmail address
* High-quality written English skills.
* Basic html understanding
* Ability to do Zoom calls
* Computer with a VPN
* Desire to learn new skills
* A great eye for detail.
* Be a keen and quick learner.
* Self-motivated.
* Positive, no excuse attitude.
* Good communication.
Work commitment:
* 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, preferred but would consider fewer hours each day if you wanted a Monday through Sunday schedule.
* Must be able to be online with me between 7 am and 10 am Eastern Time Monday through Friday. Other than that three-hour time commitment each weekday, as long as the work gets done, you can choose your best working hours.
Consider the first week a training period to test the workflow and see how we work together. If all goes well, you will be hired on a three-month trial basis.
The pay starts at $2/hour sent via Wise.
If you successfully complete the three-month trial, your pay will rise to $2.50/hour. You will be eligible for a $.50 per hour raise after one year from your hire date.
How to apply:
Please note that you will not be considered if you do not follow these directions.
1. At the top of your message, add a link to your CV or resume and, if applicable, a bulleted list of the blogs, websites or companies/universities where you’ve done similar work.
2. Follow with 2-3 sentences about why you would like this position and why you are a good fit. Do not write more than that.
3. Finish with a final paragraph detailing your availability (I will consider part-time hours for the right person) and how you think you can best help me.
4. Your message will be immediately archived if it contains low-quality AI-generated text.
5. Include the phrase “Oxford comma” in all caps at the end of your subject line.
Thank you for your interest. I look forward to welcoming the right person to the team.
