ABOUT US

We are a Canadian outdoor media company that produces multiple podcasts, YouTube channels, online courses, and social media content. Our content covers firearms safety training, hunting, fishing, precision shooting, backcountry skills, and wild food. We produce content across two brands and are looking for a dedicated editor to handle a growing volume of post-production work.

This is not a one-off gig. We are looking for someone who starts on a per-project basis and grows into a full-time role as we build trust and volume together.

WHAT YOU WILL BE EDITING (STARTING SCOPE)

You will begin with the following types of work:

- Short-form social clips (Reels, Shorts, TikToks) extracted from longer podcast and video content, with captions and vertical formatting. You will use Opus Clip to identify clip candidates, then review, refine, and finish them to a publishable standard.

- YouTube travel and adventure videos. We produce content from production trips (for example, a recent trip to Sweden that included factory tours, hunting content, and a training academy). You will receive raw footage and B-roll and edit it into polished standalone videos.

- Cooking, wild food, and outdoor lifestyle content for social media, blog posts, and promotional use. Short, clean, visually engaging edits.

- Online course video modules. Screen recordings with voiceover, slide-based instructional content, and training walkthroughs. Clean editing, clear audio, and professional presentation.

As you learn our style and demonstrate reliability, the scope will expand to include full podcast episode editing across multiple shows (60-90+ minute episodes, audio and video formats, including remote guest audio repair).

TYPICAL WEEKLY VOLUME (STARTING)

- 5-10+ short-form social clips
- 1-2 YouTube videos (complexity varies)
- Course content as needed
- Cooking/outdoor lifestyle edits as needed

This will grow. The right person will be handling significantly more volume within 60-90 days.

WHAT THIS ROLE REQUIRES BEYOND BASIC EDITING

We need more than someone who can make clean cuts. You will also:

- Review raw footage and organize it, identifying the strongest content and flagging what works best for a given video. Some shoots produce hours of footage that need to be reviewed and distilled into the best possible output.

- Source music and sound effects from ---------- (our licensing platform). You need to find tracks that fit the tone and pacing of each piece.

- Apply color correction and grading appropriate to the content. Outdoor field footage requires different treatment than studio or screen-based content.

- Create and maintain subtitle/caption files (SRT and burned-in) for all video content.

- Create thumbnails for YouTube and social platforms.

- Over time, contribute to pre-production planning by telling us what footage and shot types you need to do your job well (establishing shots, close-ups, cutaways, B-roll). We want to build a feedback loop where the shooting and editing process improves together.

TOOLS AND WORKFLOW

You should be proficient in or willing to quickly learn:

Editing: Adobe Premiere Pro (primary), DaVinci Resolve (used for some projects and color work)
Audio: iZotope RX or equivalent for noise reduction, leveling, de-essing, and spectral editing
Workflow: Opus Clip (we will provide access for identifying social clip candidates from long-form content), ---------- (music and SFX licensing)
Delivery: Google Drive or Dropbox for file delivery, Slack or email for daily communication
Other: Photoshop or Canva for thumbnails, subtitle/caption tools

You do not need to know all of these on day one, but you need to be comfortable learning new tools quickly.

WHAT WE EXPECT (NON-NEGOTIABLE)

Read this section carefully.

- You must review the ENTIRE file before making edits. Previous editors we have worked with edited the first 10 minutes and ignored problems in the rest. This is an automatic disqualification.

- Turnaround times must be met consistently. Late delivery without communication is grounds for ending the relationship.

- You must communicate proactively. If something is unclear, ask. If you are going to miss a deadline, tell us before the deadline. If you need something from us (footage, a file, a decision), ask for it immediately.

- You must be willing to receive direct feedback and adjust your work without taking it personally. We will tell you exactly what needs to change and we expect it to change.

- You are expected to improve over time. As you learn our content and style, the quality and speed of your work should increase.

LEARNING OUR STYLE

Our content has a specific tone and feel. It is direct, competent, and serious without being stiff. It is not flashy, over-produced, or trendy. You will spend your first few weeks studying our published content to internalize the style. We will provide a style guide, but the real learning comes from watching and listening to what we have already put out.

You do not need to know anything about firearms, hunting, or outdoor skills to start. But you need to be willing to learn enough to make intelligent editing decisions.

COMPENSATION

This role starts on a per-project basis:

- Short-form social clip (vertical, captioned, 30-60 sec): $5-10 USD per clip
- YouTube video edit (5-10 min, cuts, color, captions, B-roll, music): $30-60 USD depending on complexity
- Online course module edit (5-10 min, screen recording/slides, audio cleanup): $20-40 USD depending on length
- Podcast episode (60-90 min, full edit, audio cleanup, export) when scope expands: $50-75 USD per episode

Payment monthly via Wise, PayPal, or direct deposit for all completed work.

For the right person, this role will transition to a full-time monthly retainer within 60-90 days. We are not looking for the cheapest option. We are looking for someone reliable, detail-oriented, and committed to long-term work.

HOW TO APPLY

Send a message that includes:

1. A link to your portfolio or 3 examples of edited videos or podcasts (YouTube links preferred). At least one example must show your ability to create engaging short-form social content.
2. A brief description of your editing setup (computer specs, software you use, internet speed).
3. Your availability (hours per day and timezone).
4. Your expected per-project rates (or confirm you are comfortable with the rates listed above).
5. Your experience with any of the following: Opus Clip, ---------- , iZotope RX, DaVinci Resolve color grading, AutoPod. If none, tell us what you do use.
6. One sentence explaining why you are a good fit for long-term work. Not a generic cover letter.

Applications that do not include all six items will not be reviewed.
