We are an animated animal documentary YouTube channel with over 300,000 subscribers. We create engaging, fast-paced videos that combine storytelling, animation, sound design, and visual effects to keep viewers hooked from start to finish.

We are looking for a skilled video editor who can transform scripts and assets into compelling, high-retention videos that match and improve upon our current style.

What You’ll Do
Edit full-length YouTube videos (typically 6–12 minutes)

Combine:
Voiceover narration
Animal illustrations/animations
Sound effects
Background music
Maintain fast pacing and strong viewer retention

Add:
Zooms, motion, and subtle animation to static images
Visual emphasis (highlights, arrows, focus effects)
Scene transitions that keep flow smooth and engaging
Sync visuals tightly with narration for maximum impact
Use sound design to enhance tension, humor, and emotion

Structure videos to:
Hook viewers in the first 5–10 seconds
Maintain engagement throughout
Deliver strong endings

Key Objective
Your job is not just to “edit” — it is to maximize audience retention and engagement.

This means:
Every cut, zoom, and sound should have a purpose
No dead space or slow sections
Visuals should constantly reinforce what’s being said

Required Technical Skills
Adobe Premiere Pro (preferred) or equivalent

Familiarity with:
After Effects (strong bonus)
Final Cut Pro (acceptable alternative)

Core Editing Skills
Timeline editing (cutting, trimming, sequencing)
Pacing control (fast, engaging flow)
Jump cuts and rhythm editing
Scene structuring

Motion & Animation
Basic motion animation:
Zooms (push-in / pull-out)
Panning across images
Parallax effects (preferred)
Animating static assets to feel dynamic

Audio Editing & Sound Design
Voiceover syncing
Background music selection and layering

Sound effects timing for:
Impact
Humor
Tension
Volume balancing and clean audio mixing

Visual Effects & Enhancements
Text overlays (emphasis, labels, reactions)
Highlight effects (circles, arrows, glows)
Color correction/grading
Light effects for dramatic scenes

Export & Optimization
Exporting for YouTube (1080p/4K)
File compression without quality loss
Maintaining consistent quality across videos

Asset Management
Organizing:
Audio files
Visual assets
Project files
Efficient workflow with large asset libraries

Creative & Analytical Skills (CRITICAL)
Ability to interpret a script and visualize engaging scenes

Strong sense of:
Timing
Emotion
Storytelling flow

Understanding of YouTube retention dynamics
Ability to identify:
Where viewers might drop off
Where to add visual or audio stimulation

Workflow & Productivity
Ability to deliver 1– 2 videos per week (depending on complexity)
Fast turnaround time
Comfortable working with templates and repeatable formats
Open to feedback and iteration
