JOB OVERVIEW

Role Title: Video Editor - Story / Hero

Video Editor - Story / Hero
Senior craft editor who pulls narrative out of raw footage and sets the quality bar for the team.


Primary Goal

Produce our highest-impact pieces, story-driven creator wins, narrative cutdowns from long-form calls and podcasts, and high-retention hero content. Working from raw footage without a tight template. Over time, help define editing standards and act as a quality checkpoint for the volume team.


Where This Role Sits

This is the senior editing seat. You take a 45-minute creator call or podcast and find the 45-second story inside it: the hook, the turn, the payoff. You work from brand voice and judgment, not just a preset, and you grow into a quality checkpoint and mentor for the volume-lane editors.


Key Responsibilities

• Cut narrative-driven short-form from long-form source (creator calls, podcasts, interviews): find the story, structure tension ? turn ? takeaway.
• Identify and cut the multiple strongest stories within a single long-form source, not just one.
• Produce hero / high-retention pieces with advanced pacing, dynamic cuts, motion graphics, and sound design.
• Translate brand voice into editing decisions so every piece feels on-brand.
• Build and document templates and presets the volume team can reuse.
• QC volume-team output, give actionable feedback, and help onboard new editors.


Required Skills & Tools

• Advanced editing: Adobe Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve (required); Descript (required).
• Story instinct: able to find and structure a narrative from raw, unscripted footage.
• Motion graphics, dynamic captioning, sound design, and color.
• AI-assisted workflows (Claude, OpusClip) to accelerate selects and assembly.


Experience

3+ years editing short-form and/or narrative content, ideally for creators or personal brands.
A portfolio that demonstrates storytelling, not just effects.


What We Screen For

• Story sense over technical flash: we will take a strong storyteller over a technically flawless editor whose cuts don’t land. Ask candidates to show a piece where they pulled a story out of messy footage.
• Brand-voice judgment: can keep content feeling like one person across formats.
• Leadership trajectory: can eventually own standards and coach others.


Rate: $800.00 USD
Work Schedule: Full-time:40 hours per week
Preferred: Overlap with U.S. Pacific Time
Requirement: Minimum 3 years of proven experience
