Short-Form Video Editor — Car Content Specialist (Reels + YouTube) — Full-Time | $3/hour or Per-Video

Option 2 — Per-Video: $1.50 per published reel (no hourly rate). Paid weekly via Wise.

Include your preference in your application.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, minimum 3 hours daily overlap with US Pacific Time (Los Angeles)
Start: Immediately for the right person

About the Brand
You'll be editing for the personal brand of a young entrepreneur based in Los Angeles. The content centers on luxury and exotic cars — cinematic rolling shots, POV drives, cold starts, exhaust clips, and lifestyle content — with a YouTube channel launching soon. The page is built on fast-paced, premium, scroll-stopping edits.
This is not a generalist editing job. If you don't watch car content, don't know what a good launch clip sounds like, or can't feel when a cut should hit the beat — this isn't for you.

The Role
You will receive raw iPhone footage via cloud folder and turn it into finished car edits. You will produce:

Instagram Reels — fast, punchy, hook-driven car edits (the priority)
YouTube videos — long-form content as the channel launches
Cross-platform cuts — TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Facebook versions

Your day-to-day:

Edit and deliver short-form car edits on a consistent daily/weekly schedule
Cut for retention — a hook in the first 1–3 seconds, tight pacing, zero dead air
Sound design — this is where car edits are won or lost. Engine and exhaust audio mixed properly with music, beat-synced cuts, SFX, clean transitions between natural sound and track
Speed ramps, zoom transitions, velocity-style edits, smooth slow-mo
Color grade automotive footage so paint, reflections, and night shots actually pop
Edit primarily in the Edits app by Instagram (required workflow — non-negotiable)
Deliver in both 9:16 (Reels/Shorts/TikTok) and 16:9 (YouTube)
Stay on top of what's trending in the car content niche — formats, sounds, hooks — and bring ideas, not just deliverables
Communicate daily on progress and turnaround

Requirements (Must-Have)

3+ years of video editing experience — verifiable
Must own an iPhone (iPhone 11 or newer) — the entire workflow runs through the Edits app by Instagram, and you must be fully comfortable editing in it
Short-form specialist — Reels, TikToks, Shorts. You live in this format
YouTube editing experience — you've edited full-length YouTube videos, not just shorts
Strong sound design skills — you understand how to balance engine audio with music and cut to the beat
Portfolio with proof: You must provide the exact ---------- of accounts you've created content for, tell us which specific videos you edited, and your exact role on each. We will verify. No real accounts with your real work = no application
Fast, stable internet — you'll be downloading large 4K iPhone files daily - Upload a photo of your internet speed.
Strong written English and reliable daily communication
Willing to sign an NDA — footage, locations, and content plans stay private, and nothing gets reposted to your own pages without written approval

Heavily Weighted (Tell Us If You Have This)

Car/automotive content editing experience — if you've edited for car pages, dealerships, automotive creators, or detailing/wrap shops, lead with it. Show us your best automotive edits
CapCut, Premiere Pro, or After Effects as secondary tools
Thumbnail design for YouTube
Basic motion graphics
Understanding of Instagram analytics and what drives retention and shares in the car niche

How We Hire

Apply with everything listed below
Shortlisted applicants do a paid test edit — we send you raw car footage, you deliver a finished reel, we pay you for your time
The best test edit gets the job, starting with a 2-week paid trial (trial period is hourly regardless of your chosen pay structure)

How to Apply
Start your application with the word "REDLINE" as the very first word. Applications that don't will be deleted unread — this is how we filter people who don't pay attention to detail.
Then include:

A Loom video (3–5 minutes) — screen-record your best edit (a car edit if you have one) and walk us through it: why that hook, why you cut where you cut, how you handled the audio, and what you'd improve. We want to hear how you think
Links to your 5 best short-form edits you personally edited — car content first if you have it
The exact ---------- of every account you've created content for, with your specific role on each
Your YouTube editing samples — channel or video links
Answers to these four questions:

You're handed 5 minutes of raw footage from a supercar shoot — rolling shots, interior clips, a cold start, and a launch. Walk us through your exact process to turn it into a 12-second reel, and how long it takes you
Which pay structure do you prefer — hourly or per-video — and why? If hourly, what is your desired hourly rate?

Why This Role Matters
This isn't backlog work. You'd be the founding editor for a personal brand with a real garage, real content output, and a YouTube channel about to launch. The person who takes this seat and delivers grows with it — into a Lead Editor role with consistent long-term work, weekly pay, and genuine creative input. Car content is the niche; if it's your niche, this is the kind of seat you want.
If you've read this far and you're the right person, you already know it. Show us.
