OVERVIEW
We are looking for a skilled VSL (Video Sales Letter) Editor who can craft long-form, high-converting video content for e-commerce and DTC brands. This is not a short-form or social media role — you will own the full VSL production pipeline, turning raw scripts, footage, and voiceovers into polished sales videos that drive measurable revenue outcomes.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
• VSL Production: Edit full-length VSLs (typically 5–30 minutes) from provided scripts, voiceovers, and b-roll footage — structured to maximise viewer retention and purchase intent.
• DR Structure & Flow: Apply proven Direct Response frameworks: strong hook and problem identification in the opening segment, benefit-stacking through the body, and a high-urgency close with clear CTA.
• Visual Storytelling: Build compelling visual narratives that support the sales script — using text overlays, callouts, product close-ups, testimonial segments, and supporting graphics to reinforce key selling points.
• Audio & Pacing: Master voiceover pacing, background music layering, and sound design to maintain engagement throughout long-form content. Silence and timing are as important as visuals.
• Iteration Based on Data: Produce A/B testing variants (different hooks, CTAs, segment reordering) based on performance feedback — view-through rate, drop-off points, and conversion data.
• Platform Optimisation: Export and format VSLs for web-hosted sales pages, YouTube pre-roll, and
• Asset Management: Maintain organised project files, source footage, and export versions for handoff to media buyers and funnel builders.
MUST-HAVES
• Proven VSL editing portfolio — at least 2–3 examples of long-form sales videos (not short-form ads or brand content) with demonstrated conversion outcomes.
• Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro, with clean, well-structured timelines.
• Deep understanding of Direct Response marketing: you know what a hook, a benefit stack, a proof section, and a close look like — and how to pace them visually.
• Experience working with voiceover-led content and synchronising visuals to narration beats.
• Comfort with text-heavy editing — callouts, chapter titles, emphasis overlays, and on-screen proof elements (screenshots, testimonials, stats).
• Performance mindset — you treat data (watch time, drop-off, CVR) as creative direction, not criticism.
• Reliable fast turnaround: first cuts within 48 hours; revisions within 24 hours.
BONUS SKILLS
• Experience with animated explainer-style segments or whiteboard/kinetic typography within VSLs.
• Proficiency in After Effects for lower thirds, animated callouts, and motion graphics.
• Familiarity with VSL hosting platforms (Wistia, Vimeo, ClickFunnels embedded video).
• Understanding of funnel architecture — how a VSL fits into a sales page, order bump, and upsell flow.
• Experience editing for supplement, info-product, or high-ticket e-commerce VSL formats.
