About the Senior Accountant Role:

The Senior Accountant will oversee and manage the books in Quickbooks Online for our U.S. based Craft Brewery client. Hours expectation is between 25 to 40 hours per week depending on business needs. Starting rate is $5.00 USD per hour.

Key Responsibilities and Tasks:

MEC/YEC
• Ensure accurate and timely month-end and year end cut-off
• Prepare monthly financial statements (PL, BS and Cash Flow)
• Assess financial statements and post needed monthly accruals
• Provide commentary on financial statements
• Post & process journal entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded
• Perform all necessary reconciliations (bank, credit card and vendor statement)
• Post revenue and COGS
• Record and maintain CAPEX and lease obligations
• Record intercompany and other related party transactions
• Review GL activity and perform variance analysis
• Perform gross margin, OPEX, inventory, cost of sales analysis as needed
• Assist with various month end KPIs and analytics
• Develop and publish MEC related reporting, i.e. revenue, OPEX, profit bridges
• Maintain records of all company agreements (leases, contracts, notes)
• Maintain and adhere to accounting policies
• Assist with year-end review engagement, tax return preparation, insurance renewal and bank renewal

AR/AP
• Review and update AR and AP reports and perform reconciliations
• Process accounts payable/receivable payments
• Post cash receipts/deposits
• Setup new vendors as required
• Invoice/bill entries in Acumatica as needed

Forecasting
• Prepare annual budgets
• Prepare monthly latest estimate budgets

Taxes/Filings
• Prepare and file GST/ HST/ EHT/ WSIB and any other government required documents

Other
• Develop, maintain, and improve internal controls for new and existing financial systems and drive process improvement projects to streamline and automate manual workflows
• Lead or assist with projects to improve business reporting and accounting processes
• Check and maintain data in Quickbooks Online to ensure accuracy
• Assist with payroll as required
• Additional accounting & business duties that management may require

Job Qualifications:

• Must be licensed CPA
• 3+ years’ experience in a senior accountant role
• Brewery and manufacturing experience an asset
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant degree
• Strong knowledge and experience in end-to-end financial processes and controls
• Experience in preparation of financial statements, budget controls, variance analysis and cash flow projections
• Proven knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures
• Previous working experience with Quickbooks Online, EKOs, Upgrade to see actual info, Toast
• Ability to take direction and work calmly and effectively under pressure
• Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
• Experience speaking with foreign clients is essential
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Knowledge of international accounting standards is a plus
