# Technical Project Manager (TPM)

## Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Technical Project Manager (TPM) to lead and manage software development projects, driving execution from initiation through completion. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background, exceptional project management skills grounded in Agile methodologies, and proven expertise in utilizing Azure DevOps, particularly Azure Boards, for work item tracking, planning, and reporting.

You will orchestrate the efforts of cross-functional technical teams, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality software solutions while effectively communicating with stakeholders. In a fast-paced environment, you will translate strategic direction into actionable plans, ensuring features and fixes are delivered on time, with quality, and in alignment with business goals.

## Key Responsibilities

### Project Planning & Execution
- Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and closure of technical projects, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and timelines
- Own the day-to-day execution of development tasks and features

### Agile Practice Leadership
- Champion and implement Agile/Scrum practices
- Facilitate ceremonies (Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, Retrospectives)
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement

### Azure Boards Management
- Configure and manage Azure Boards, including work item types (Epics, Features, User Stories, Tasks, Bugs), workflows, fields, and board layouts to support team processes
- Develop and maintain project backlogs, sprint backlogs, and roadmaps within Azure Boards
- Create and manage queries, dashboards, and reports in Azure DevOps to track progress, velocity, burndown/burnup, and other key metrics
- Ensure data integrity and effective usage of Azure Boards by the development teams
- Create and manage sprint boards and timelines using tools like Azure DevOps or Jira

### Stakeholder Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders
- Provide regular status updates, manage expectations, and communicate risks and dependencies effectively

### Risk & Impediment Management
- Proactively identify, track, and mitigate project risks and impediments
- Facilitate resolution to keep projects on track
- Surface risks, gaps, or misalignments early to help the Product Owner reprioritize if needed

### Team Collaboration
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment
- Support development teams in understanding requirements and removing blockers
- Communicate directly with developers to clarify technical requirements and keep velocity high

### Technical Liaison
- Bridge the gap between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders
- Translate technical complexities into understandable concepts

### Process Optimization
- Continuously evaluate and improve project management processes and tool usage (especially Azure DevOps) for increased efficiency and effectiveness

### Quality Assurance
- Track testing progress and confirm readiness for release
- Provide light QA support to ensure features meet expectations before they're reviewed by stakeholders

### Coordination
- Coordinate with developers to ensure sprint progress, flag blockers, and manage dependencies

## Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field, OR equivalent practical experience
- 3-5+ years of experience in Project Management, specifically managing software development or technical infrastructure projects
- 2+ years of hands-on experience managing projects using Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
- Demonstrable, in-depth experience managing projects within Azure DevOps, specifically utilizing Azure Boards for work item tracking, planning, reporting, and dashboard creation
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Comfort working directly with engineers and understanding technical conversations
- A bias toward action and problem-solving in a fast-moving startup environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

### Required Certification
Certification in one or more Agile methodologies is required. Examples include:
- Certified ScrumMaster (CSM)
- Professional Scrum Master (PSM) I or II
- PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP)
- SAFe Agilist (SA), SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), or similar SAFe certification

## Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with other components of Azure DevOps (Repos, Pipelines, Test Plans, Artifacts)
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
- Experience working in SaaS
- Basic understanding of cloud computing concepts (preferably Azure)
- Experience with other project management tools (e.g., Jira)
- Technical background (e.g., previous experience as a developer, QA engineer, or systems administrator)
- Prior experience in a SaaS or software product company
- Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400) or similar Azure certifications
