Job Brief

We are looking for a System Engineer to join our team at a leading Managed Service Provider. This role is crucial for maintaining the integrity and design of our customer’s IT infrastructures, ensuring both onsite and remote support is delivered proficiently. The ideal candidate will have robust experience in a managed service environment, demonstrating a deep understanding of IT systems including workstations, servers, printers, networks, and vendor-specific hardware and software. Your responsibilities will encompass a range of activities from addressing technical issues to full-scale project design and implementation.

As a System Engineer, you will be directly involved in resolving complex technical issues and proactively enhancing system functionalities to support customer needs effectively. Your role will include crafting and implementing solutions tailored to customer specifications while ensuring compliance with industry standards and security practices. This position demands a proactive mindset, exceptional problem-solving skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with team members and clients to drive satisfactory outcomes.

Responsibilities

Managed Service Provider Specific Duties

Leverage experience in a managed service environment to monitor and manage all technology aspects including workstations, servers, printers, networks, and software.

Ensure optimal system performance and security for all clients by implementing best practices in IT management and security protocols.

Technical Support and System Maintenance

Provide IT support relating to technical issues involving core business applications and virtual environments, ensuring efficient and effective resolution.

Engineer and implement system solutions that are specifically tailored to meet client needs and industry standards.

Network and Security Management

Handle network-level operations including WAN and LAN connectivity, routers, firewalls, and security implementations.

Develop and maintain remote access solutions to enhance client operations and ensure secure connectivity.

Requirements

Proven experience as a System Engineer within a Managed Service Provider (MSP) environment.

Deep knowledge and professional experience with Microsoft and VMware environments.

Desirable

Previous experience with disaster recovery planning and network security management within an MSP context.

5 Years experience ideally

Strong project management skills and familiarity with ITIL framework.

Software Expertise

Proficient in the use of MSP-specific tools and software for monitoring and managing IT services.

Familiarity with ConnectWise or other MSP service automation platforms.

Education

Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.

Professional IT Certifications such as Microsoft MCP, MCSE, Cisco CCNA, VMware VCP, preferred.
