Structural Steel and Misc Metals Drafter/ TEKLA / CAD

Job Description:

We're on the lookout for a detail-oriented Drafter, specializing in structural steel and miscellaneous metal. This role is crucial for our construction projects, where you'll be estimating materials, drafting shop drawings for our company, and providing sketches and plans as needed. Must be skilled in TEKLA MODELS/ STRUCTURE, BIM STRUCTURE , CAD. Must have experience in structural steel construction.

Responsibilities:

Takeoff and Markup:
Look closely at project plans and mark up key details using tools.
Figure out the quantity of structural steel and miscellaneous metal needed for each project.
Draft up shop drawings, provide models, of erection plans, general assembly plans, shop fabrication plans, parts sheet, DXL files, STP files
Must be able to deliver the full scope of work for each project efficiently

Excel Proficiency:
Use Excel to create clear and organized spreadsheets listing all the materials needed.
Estimate project costs and keep track of expenses using Excel.

Scope of Work Documentation:
Write up a clear and detailed scope of work for each project based on plans.
Document specific project requirements thoroughly.
Estimating Programs:
Be familiar with and use at least two estimating programs to make accurate project estimates.
Stay up-to-date on industry-standard software to improve estimation skills.

Fast Turnaround:
Work quickly and efficiently to meet tight project deadlines.
Handle varying workloads, from multiple jobs per week to slower periods.

Requirements:

Experience in estimating materials for structural steel and miscellaneous metal in construction.
Good skills with markup tools, Excel, and at least two estimating programs.
Attention to detail for accurate quantity takeoffs.
Clear written and verbal communication skills for documenting project details.
Adaptability to handle both busy and slow work periods.
Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
