Position Summary
NRG Clean Power is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Solar Permitting Coordinator to join our growing team. In this role, you will act as the crucial link between our design team, project managers, local municipalities (AHJs), and utility companies. You will be responsible for preparing, submitting, and tracking all necessary permit applications to ensure our solar projects are approved accurately and efficiently. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem-solver with excellent communication skills and a strong ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Permit Preparation: Assemble and review permit application packages, including structural and electrical engineering designs, site plans, and required jurisdictional forms.
Submission & Tracking: Submit permit applications to local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) and Homeowners Associations (HOAs) via online portals, mail, or in-person delivery (expediting).
Interconnection Applications: Prepare and submit utility interconnection applications and track them through to the Final Permission to Operate (PTO) stage.
Relationship Management: Build and maintain positive working relationships with city planners, building departments, and utility representatives to facilitate smooth approvals.
Issue Resolution: Promptly address and resolve any permit rejections, plan check corrections, or requests for additional information by coordinating directly with internal design and engineering teams.
Data Management: Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of all permitting activities, milestones, and expenses within the company CRM Salesforce.
Reporting: Provide regular updates to project managers and sales teams regarding pipeline status and expected approval timelines.
Qualifications & Requirements
Experience: Minimum [1-2] years of experience in permitting, project coordination, or administrative roles within the solar, construction, or roofing industries.
Language Skills: Fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively advocate for the company with local government officials and utility representatives.
Application & Tech Proficiency: Highly adept at learning and navigating various software applications, including online municipal permitting portals, utility interconnection platforms, CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), and Microsoft Office/Google Workspace.
Knowledge: Familiarity with local building codes, zoning laws, and AHJ requirements is highly preferred. Basic understanding of solar PV systems is a strong plus.
Attention to Detail: Exceptional organizational skills with a proven ability to manage complex paperwork and catch errors before submission.
