Shopify Developer / Liquid Theme Specialist
Remote | Philippines-Based | Full-Time
$7.25 – $12.25 USD/hour | Paid in USD (Exchanged to PHP)
Can you customize Shopify themes, build clean product pages, troubleshoot broken layouts, and create e-commerce experiences that are fast, mobile-friendly, and easy for store owners to manage?
Do you understand Shopify beyond basic admin work? Can you work with Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, apps, product templates, collections, theme settings, and conversion-focused store updates?
We are hiring a Shopify Developer on behalf of a U.S.-based staffing and operations company supporting e-commerce, home service, and local service businesses. This role is for someone who can build, customize, troubleshoot, and maintain Shopify stores with strong attention to detail.
This is not a basic Shopify VA role. We need someone who can work inside Shopify themes, solve technical issues, create clean storefront experiences, and communicate clearly with the internal team.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Shopify Theme Development
* Customize Shopify themes using Liquid, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
* Build and edit Shopify sections, blocks, snippets, templates, product pages, collection pages, and landing pages
* Create theme sections that are easy for non-technical store owners to edit inside the Shopify theme editor
* Make layout updates, design improvements, and mobile-responsive fixes
* Troubleshoot broken layouts, spacing issues, mobile display problems, app conflicts, and theme bugs
* Maintain clean, organized, and reusable theme code
Store Buildout & Customization
* Help build and update Shopify stores for e-commerce brands and client projects
* Set up and organize products, collections, menus, pages, navigation, theme settings, and basic store structure
* Create product pages and landing pages designed to improve conversion rates
* Add trust elements, reviews, product details, FAQs, offer sections, banners, and call-to-action sections
* Improve store usability, customer flow, and mobile shopping experience
* Support store launches, theme updates, and ongoing site improvements
Apps, Integrations & Troubleshooting
* Install, configure, and troubleshoot Shopify apps
* Identify app conflicts, slow-loading scripts, duplicate features, and unnecessary app bloat
* Help connect Shopify with tools such as Klaviyo, Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, Meta Pixel, Google Ads, review apps, page builders, and
* Troubleshoot tracking, checkout, product display, cart, and conversion issues
* Escalate advanced API, checkout, or custom app issues when needed
Performance & Conversion Optimization
* Review Shopify stores for speed, usability, and conversion opportunities
* Improve product page layout, CTA placement, mobile responsiveness, and customer trust elements
* Help reduce friction in the shopping experience
* Make basic performance improvements by cleaning up unnecessary code, apps, and scripts when appropriate
* Test changes on desktop and mobile before publishing
Documentation & Communication
* Create short Loom videos, screenshots, or written notes explaining changes made
* Document theme edits, app changes, known issues, and recommended improvements
* Communicate clearly with the internal team about progress, blockers, and completed tasks
* Flag technical issues early and bring practical solutions
* Follow SOPs and help improve internal development processes over time
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
* Minimum 2-3 years of hands-on Shopify development experience
* Strong understanding of Shopify themes, Liquid, sections, blocks, snippets, templates, products, and collections
* Proficiency with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and responsive design
* Experience customizing Shopify product pages, collection pages, homepages, and landing pages
* Experience troubleshooting Shopify theme issues and app conflicts
* Ability to make mobile-friendly, conversion-focused design updates
* Ability to follow design direction while also spotting usability issues
* Strong attention to detail and clean work habits
* Organized, reliable, and proactive in communication
* Ability to explain technical work clearly through Loom, screenshots, or written updates
* Reliable home office setup with stable internet
* Ability to work Monday-Friday 9 am - 5 pm Pacific Standard Time (12 am-8 am Manila Time)

* Experience with page builders such as Replo, PageFly, GemPages, Shogun, or similar tools
* Experience with Shopify Plus
* Experience with speed optimization and app cleanup
* Experience with CRO-focused product pages and landing pages
* Experience working with U.S.-based e-commerce brands or agencies
