JOB OVERVIEW

We are looking for a highly capable **WordPress developer with strong technical SEO experience** to help repair, optimise and grow an established Australian marine/classifieds website.

This is **not** a basic web design role. We need someone who can improve website performance, indexing, crawlability, site architecture, structured data, rankings and lead generation.

The first project is a **4–6 week full-time SEO recovery and website optimisation project**. For the right person, this may become a long-term role helping build and optimise a group of related marketplace/classifieds websites.

## Experience Required

Minimum requirement:

* 5+ years professional WordPress development experience
* Strong technical SEO experience
* Experience with Google Search Console
* Experience improving Core Web Vitals and page speed
* Experience troubleshooting WordPress themes, plugins and site architecture

Preferred:

* 7+ years WordPress / PHP / technical SEO experience
* Experience with listing, directory, marketplace, real estate, automotive, marine or classifieds websites
* Experience recovering websites that have lost rankings or indexing visibility

## Main Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

* Technical SEO audit
* WordPress theme/plugin review
* Google Search Console review
* Google Analytics review
* Fixing indexing and crawlability issues
* Improving sitemap, robots.txt, redirects and canonical tags
* Improving Core Web Vitals and page speed
* Mobile optimisation
* Image optimisation
* Internal linking improvements
* URL structure improvements
* Listing/detail page SEO improvements
* Category and location landing page strategy
* Schema / structured data implementation
* Conversion improvements for enquiry forms
* Basic CRM/form integration where needed
* Daily progress updates
* Weekly performance reports

* FAQ and Q&A content structures
* Topical authority
* Comparison pages
* Citation-worthy content
* Making a business easy for AI tools to understand and recommend

## Communication Requirement

Proactive and clear communication is a must.

We need someone who:

* provides updates without being chased
* explains technical issues clearly
* flags problems early
* asks clear questions when needed
* gives realistic timelines
* does not hide blockers
* documents what has been changed
* can explain the commercial reason behind technical work

This role requires someone who can work independently and communicate like a professional. Silent workers, vague updates and unclear reporting will not be suitable.

## Daily Reporting

Daily reporting is required.

At the end of each workday, send a short update covering:

* what you worked on
* what you completed
* issues found
* fixes made
* what you will work on next
* anything needed from us

Daily reports must be specific. For example, do not write “worked on SEO”. Explain exactly what was checked, fixed or improved.

## Weekly Reporting

Weekly reporting is also required, covering:

* ranking movement
* Search Console changes
* indexed pages
* speed improvements
* Core Web Vitals changes
* completed work
* remaining issues
* next priorities
* blockers or risks

## Pay and Hours

Rate: **AUD $10 per hour**
Hours: **Full-time preferred**
Initial project: **4–6 weeks**
Long-term role possible for the right person
