Role Overview
We’re looking for a Senior Video Editor who operates as both a high-level editor and a problem-solver for junior editors when necessary. This role owns post-production quality, workflow efficiency, and creative consistency across projects. You’ll be expected to step in when things break, guide less-experienced editors if and when they get stuck, and raise the bar for the entire team.
This role leads post-production for brand films, project showcases, commercial listings, and social cutdowns - primarily within the construction, real estate, and built-environment space. It combines hands-on editing, creative judgment, and technical leadership. You’ll own complex edits end-to-end while supporting junior editors through problem-solving, workflow improvement, and enforcement of editorial standards. This is not a “just cut clips” role. This is not a junior or execution-only position. You are the person others go to when an edit isn’t working.
Core Responsibilities
Lead editing on high-priority or complex projects
Review, troubleshoot, and improve edits produced by junior editors
Solve technical and creative problems across timelines, codecs, audio, color, and exports
Establish and maintain editing standards, templates, and workflows
Translate creative direction into clear editorial guidance for the team
Optimize post-production pipelines for speed, consistency, and quality
Collaborate with producers, directors, and designers to ensure cohesive storytelling
Own final delivery standards across formats (social, web, broadcast, listings, branded films)
Required Core Skills
Editing & Post-Production
Expert-level proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro
Strong working knowledge of After Effects (titles, motion graphics, fixes)
Professional audio editing skills (dialog cleanup, music mixing, loudness standards)
Solid color correction and grading fundamentals (Lumetri, scopes, LUT workflows)
Multi-camera editing and sync workflows
Mastery of export settings, codecs, and delivery specs across platforms
Technical Problem-Solving
Diagnose and fix common post issues (dropped frames, corrupted media, mismatched codecs, audio drift, color shifts)
Understand proxies, relinking, project recovery, and performance optimization
Ability to explain why something broke and how to prevent it
Leadership & Team Support
Review edits efficiently and give actionable, calm, specific notes
Help build repeatable systems that reduce mistakes and rework
Maintain composure under deadlines and help others do the same
Creative Judgment
Strong sense of pacing, narrative, and visual rhythm
Ability to elevate “okay” footage into compelling stories
Understand brand tone, audience intent, and distribution context
Nice to Have
Motion graphics specialization
Experience with YouTube, social, or commercial delivery standards
Experience building editing SOPs or training materials
Background in agency or studio environments
Primary Edit Types & Deliverables
You will directly edit and/or oversee:
Brand films (60s–3 min): story-driven, interview-led, cinematic pacing
Project showcase videos: architecture, construction progress, finished environments
Commercial real estate listings: clean, accurate, premium presentation
Short-form cutdowns (9:16, 1:1, 16:9): social, reels, shorts, ads
Interview-based edits: narrative assembly, pacing, sound cleanup
B-roll driven edits: visual storytelling, continuity, rhythm
Versioned outputs for different platforms and clients
Employment Type / Trial Period
This role will begin as a contract position during a trial period. Candidates will be assigned discrete, clearly scoped projects to evaluate quality, communication, and problem-solving ability.
Our intent is to hire the right person. Contractors who consistently deliver high-quality work, operate independently, and collaborate well with the team will be offered ongoing work and considered for full-time employment.
