Senior SEO Manager (remote)

Role overview

We are an accredited training provider based in the United Kingdom that helps people teach English at home and abroad.
This is a full-time freelance remote position supporting a UK-based company. Candidates based outside the UK must be willing to adjust working hours to allow for regular collaboration with the UK team.
You will lead and develop a team of outreach SEO specialists, owning strategy, execution and reporting. You’ll transition campaigns from traditional SEO to Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO), securing brand visibility in AI platforms (ChatGPT, Google SGE, etc.) while managing link acquisition, guest post optimisation for AI engines, and team development. Reporting to the Head of Marketing, you will align our search approach with wider business objectives.

Leadership & team management
• Coach, mentor, and performance-manage a team of SEO specialists
• Set quarterly goals, develop and execute SEO roadmaps
• Run weekly stand ups and create structured feedback and training plans that build outreach and analytical skills

Outreach optimisation
• Direct link-building campaigns that prioritise relevance, authority and link quality checks
• Introduce AI tools to speed prospect research, email personalisation and success tracking
• Implement GEO strategies: Optimise content for AI citations across ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google SGE

Strategy, analysis & reporting
• Publish monthly reports covering traffic, keyword tracking, leads and GEO performance.
• Track competitors, algorithm shifts and emerging GEO trends to future-proof strategy

Essential skills and experience
• 5+ years in full-time SEO in link-building with 3+ years managing SEO teams for e-commerce or content-rich sites
• Mastery of SEO tools: Google Search Console, Ahrefs, Semrush, GA4 and WordPress
• Leadership proficiency: Coaching teams, communicating strategy, and performance management
• Experience integrating AI or automation into outreach or content workflows
• Confident communicator who can translate complex issues for marketing, content and engineering teams
• Exceptional organisational skills, able to juggle multiple projects and deadlines

Basic Requirements:
• Device Specifications: Intel i5 processor or higher with a minimum of 8GB RAM
• Equipment: Webcam, speakers, and a microphone or headphones
• Internet Speed: Minimum of 100Mbps with a backup connection in case of outages
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English are essential
