Senior Laravel Developer (Technical Lead Path)

We’re building Australia’s leading entertainment technology ecosystem — a large-scale marketplace connecting performers and bookers across multiple entertainment brands and domain names.

Our backend is built on Laravel, supported by a WordPress VIP front-end, and integrated with the Microsoft technology stack. We operate a multisite network and are expanding nationally across Australia, with the goal of supporting a wide ecosystem of entertainment brands and services.

As we bring development in-house, we are seeking an experienced developer to join our team. While the role will be varied across the stack, strong Laravel experience is essential, as it forms a major part of our platform. In addition, we will be transitioning our Laravel server to a new environment, so experience with server migrations or deployments will be highly valuable.

Role Overview
Your primary responsibility is to lead the Laravel backend, ensuring it remains robust, scalable, and ready for future growth.
You will gradually transition ownership from our external development agency and become the internal technical lead for backend logic, APIs, platform expansion, integrations, and data flows.
This position is Laravel-first, but you will also work across other parts of the system, including AI integrations, multi-brand architecture, and Microsoft ecosystem connectivity.

Laravel Backend Development (Core Focus)
• Maintain and evolve the Laravel backend that powers our platform
• Develop new features and enhance existing logic using clean architecture principles
• Optimise performance, API response times, caching, queues, and security
• Review and provide recommendations on the current codebase
• Lead backend planning for future ecosystem growth
Platform Ownership & Development
• Take over development responsibilities from our existing agency
• Review, document, and understand the current codebase and architecture
• Manage and enhance our custom Laravel API powering our multisite network
• Build and maintain custom backend logic and platform features
WordPress VIP (Front-End)
• Manage integrations, templates, features, and multisite logic
• Work within VIP best-practice guidelines (limited plugins, Git workflows, etc.)
• Ensure performance, reliability, and scalability across the VIP environment
Microsoft Ecosystem Integration
• Connect Laravel to Microsoft services and data flows
• Help architect a future-proof data model across multiple systems
AI & Automation
We are heavily invested in AI transformation.
You will help integrate AI into various aspects of the platform and development workflows.
Technical Leadership
• Contribute to architecture and platform design decisions
• Collaborate directly with the founder (technical background)
• Document and improve systems and internal processes
• Ensure code quality, security, and long-term stability

Required Skills (Laravel First)
You must bring strong professional experience in:
• PHP 8+
• Laravel 9/10 (deep knowledge)
• REST API development
• Queues, events, and workers
• MySQL database design
• Security best practices
• Testing and debugging
• Git & version control
• CI/CD pipelines

Salary is negotiable and will be determined based on your experience, skill level, and ability to contribute to the platform. Senior developers or candidates with advanced Laravel or architectural expertise will be placed at the higher end of our compensation range.
