About the Role
*MUST HAVE AUSTRALIAN FINANCIAL EXPERIENCE, STP/ATO/GST/BAS ETC*
We are seeking a highly capable and detail-oriented Senior Financial Accountant to join our growing finance team supporting Australian businesses across multiple industries, including logistics, operations, security, and professional services.
This role is ideal for someone with strong technical accounting knowledge, experience working with Australian businesses or accounting standards, and the ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in financial reporting, compliance, reconciliations, forecasting, process improvement, and supporting strategic financial operations.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Accounting
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports
Manage month-end and year-end close processes
Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepayments, and reconciliations
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and supporting schedules
Monitor cash flow reporting and financial performance
Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes
Support multi-entity and intercompany accounting activities
Compliance & Tax
Assist with Australian tax compliance requirements including:
BAS/GST
Payroll reconciliations
Superannuation reporting
FBT and other statutory obligations
Assist with external audits and financial statement preparation
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal controls
Systems & Process Improvement
Identify opportunities to automate and improve finance processes
Work with ERP/accounting systems and reporting tools
Assist with implementation and optimisation of financial systems
Maintain accuracy and integrity of financial data
Operational & Business Support
Support leadership with financial insights and reporting
Assist with financial analysis and performance tracking
Collaborate with operations and management teams
Mentor junior finance or bookkeeping staff where required
Skills & Experience Required
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
CPA, CA, or equivalent qualification preferred
Minimum 5 years’ experience in accounting or finance roles
Experience supporting Australian businesses highly preferred
Strong understanding of Australian accounting principles and compliance requirements
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Experience with Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks, Odoo, or ERP systems
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills
High attention to detail and strong organisational skills
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a remote environment
Preferred Experience
Experience working remotely with Australian companies
Experience in logistics, transport, operations, or professional services industries
Familiarity with business intelligence or automation tools
Experience with multi-entity business structures
Team leadership or mentoring experience
Working Hours
Full-time role
Must be available during Australian business hours (AEST/AEDT)
