Role Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented and self-motivated Senior Accountant to join our team in a fully remote capacity. In this role, you will own core accounting functions, support month-end and year-end close, and serve as a reliable resource for financial reporting and analysis. You will work closely with a Fractional Controller or CFO across client engagements, bringing both technical expertise and a proactive mindset to support a variety of business environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage day-to-day general ledger activity, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and maintaining chart of accounts integrity
• Lead or support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate completion of all deliverables
• Prepare and distribute internal financial reports, highlighting key variances and trends for management review
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions, ensuring proper coding, approvals, and timely processing
• Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and cash flow projections in collaboration with finance leadership
• Support external audits and tax preparation by organizing workpapers, schedules, and supporting documentation
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, workflows, and controls — and take initiative to implement them
• Maintain compliance with GAAP standards and internal policies across all accounting activities
• Serve as a resource and reviewer for junior accounting staff, providing guidance on technical questions and best practices
• Collaborate effectively with remote tea
Qualifications
Education & Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• CPA license or active CPA candidate preferred
• 5+ years of accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead role
• Prior remote work experience a strong plus
Technical Skills
• Proficiency in QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage, or similar ERP/accounting platforms
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling)
• Familiarity with AI tools and automation to improve workflow efficiency
• Solid understanding of GAAP and internal controls
