SEO Virtual Assistant (E-commerce Growth)

Part-Time (with the opportunity to grow to full time) | Remote | 20 hours per week
Salary: AUD: $1200-$1800/month (depending on experience) | Immediate start

We’re looking for a proactive and detail-oriented SEO Virtual Assistant to support the growth of a fast-growing e-commerce business in the workwear and safety products industry.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining SEO strategy, content optimisation, and analytical thinking to drive measurable growth. You’ll work closely with leadership to improve organic traffic, search rankings, and online revenue across a growing catalogue of products and content.

We’re seeking someone who is highly organised, process-driven, and takes initiative — someone who actively looks for opportunities to improve performance rather than simply following instructions.

What you’ll be doing:

On-Page SEO Optimisation
Optimise product, collection, and landing pages for target keywords
Write and refine SEO titles, meta descriptions, headers, and on-page copy
Improve internal linking across the website
Enhance product descriptions for both SEO and conversion performance
Identify and resolve duplicate content, thin content, and missing metadata issues

Keyword Research & Content Planning
Conduct keyword research to identify commercial and informational opportunities
Map keywords to product, category, and blog content
Identify long-tail keyword opportunities relevant to trade and industrial audiences
Analyse competitor rankings and content gaps
Maintain keyword tracking and reporting systems

SEO Content Creation
Write blog articles and educational content targeting search intent
Optimise and expand existing content and product guides
Create SEO-focused landing pages targeting industries, use cases, and customer needs
Ensure all content aligns with a practical, modern, trade-focused tone of voice

Technical SEO Support
Identify and report technical SEO issues including crawl errors, indexing problems, and broken links
Assist with SEO audits using tools such as Google Search Console and SEMrush
Support implementation of redirects, canonical tags, and SEO-friendly URL structures
Monitor site performance and recommend speed improvements

Product & Collection Optimisation
Assist with uploading and optimising new products and collections
Ensure all new listings follow SEO best practices including metadata, alt text, and structured formatting
Develop scalable optimisation templates for future growth

Link Building & Authority Growth
Research backlink and partnership opportunities
Conduct outreach for collaborations and mentions
Support digital PR initiatives
Track backlink acquisition and authority growth

Performance Reporting
Monitor rankings, organic traffic, and SEO performance metrics
Provide weekly and monthly performance reports with actionable insights
Identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement

Tools & Platforms:
Shopify
SEMrush
Google Search Console
Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, etc.)
Asana
Customer support platforms such as Gorgias

What We’re Looking For:
Essential Skills & Attributes
Strong understanding of SEO fundamentals and best practices
Excellent written English and SEO copywriting ability
Highly organised with strong attention to detail
Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret SEO and traffic data
Self-motivated and proactive
Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities independently
Process-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset
Eagerness to stay up to date with SEO trends and algorithm changes

Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)
Understanding of the Australian search market and trade/customer audience
Experience with Shopify e-commerce stores
Familiarity with conversion rate optimisation (CRO)
Experience using AI tools within SEO workflows
Customer service or sales support experience
Experience with data entry and operational support tasks
