JOB OVERVIEW

SEO Manager — Premium Baby Brands (Formuland + )
Remote • Full-time contractor • 40,000 –60,000 /mo php • Timezone: Pacific (LA)
About us
Inc. operates two premium baby brands:, a US retailer of European organic baby formula (HiPP, Holle, Kendamil, Aptamil) serving 50,000+ parents and generating ~100K monthly organic traffic;
The role
We're hiring an SEO Manager to own organic growth across both brands. You'll report directly to the founder and lead a small SEO team (two content writers, one developer). Your job is to turn our existing strategy into measurable monthly traffic and revenue growth through technical SEO, content direction, and relentless measurement.
This is not a writing role. You'll be writing technical tickets for developers, content briefs for writers, and monthly reports for leadership — but you won't be writing blog posts yourself. If you want a writing job, this isn't it.
What you'll own
Monthly (not quarterly) SEO performance reporting across both brands — traffic, rankings, CTR, indexation, Core Web Vitals, SERP feature presence
Competitor monitoring — continuous, not periodic. You'll know within a week when a competitor moves, not a quarter later
Technical SEO audits — monthly Screaming Frog crawls, Lighthouse audits on top 20 pages, GSC enhancement report reviews
Content strategy — you d ---------- what we write, when we refresh, and how posts cluster. You write the briefs; our writers execute
Developer handoffs — you write technical tickets (schema, Liquid templates, performance) for our Shopify developer Ayush and QA every deployment
Internal linking & topic cluster architecture across both domains
AI Overview optimization — content restructuring for extraction, FAQPage schema rollout, source citation strategy
KPI dashboard — a single source of truth you update weekly that the founder reviews every Monday
Must-have qualifications
3+ years managing SEO for an e-commerce site (Shopify strongly preferred)
Hands-on proficiency with Screaming Frog, Google Search Console, Semrush (or Ahrefs), PageSpeed Insights, and Lighthouse
Proven ability to read and write JSON-LD schema markup (Product, FAQPage, Article, BreadcrumbList) — you can identify a broken schema from the source code
Experience with Shopify Liquid — enough to write specs for a developer, not necessarily to code production-ready templates yourself
Track record of recovering traffic from a Google algorithm update, AI Overview rollout, or similar platform shift (you'll be asked about this specifically)
Strong written English — you'll be writing briefs and reports daily
Comfortable working autonomously with weekly check-ins — we don't micromanage, but we expect ownership
Nice-to-have
Experience in YMYL niches (health, baby, medical, finance)
Familiarity with AI Overview / Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) strategy
Background in premium DTC or US e-commerce
Experience managing remote content writers
Working knowledge of GA4, Looker Studio, or similar reporting tools
What we offer
$1,200–$1,500 USD/month (probation $1,000–$1,200, post-probation full rate) — paid via Wise
Full-time, long-term contractor position (this is not a project gig)
Flexible hours with at least 3 hours overlap with Pacific time for weekly Monday reviews
Paid time off — 1 week vacation (your choice) + 3 sick days annually + Formuland-observed holidays
Direct access to the founder — no middle management between you and decision-making
A documented strategy (not a blank slate) — we've already done the diagnosis and built a 28-task playbook
How to apply
Send a short email answering these three questions (do NOT send a generic resume):
Link to one e-commerce SEO project where you made a measurable traffic impact. Include the starting baseline, the specific changes you made, and the result.
Describe a specific technical SEO problem you diagnosed and fixed. We want detail — tools used, what you found, what you changed, how you validated the fix.
What's your take on AI Overviews — threat, opportunity, both? How would you approach it for a site losing CTR to them?
Applications without answers to all three questions will not be reviewed. We're hiring for judgment, not credentials.
