About THEMAGIC5
THEMAGIC5 is a fast-growing e-commerce brand on a mission to build the world's most personalized swimming goggles. We use facial scanning technology to create a perfect-fit goggle for every swimmer — and we're scaling fast. SEO is a core growth lever for us, and we're looking for someone to own it end-to-end.
The Role
We're hiring an SEO Lead who gets things done. This is not a strategy-only role — we're looking for someone who writes their own tickets, implements fixes directly, and moves fast. You'll own our full SEO program across technical, on-page, and content dimensions, working hand-in-hand with our Content Strategist and Head of Content to turn search into a compounding growth channel.
You'll have direct access to our Shopify store and the autonomy to ship improvements without waiting in line.
What You'll Own
Technical SEO
Audit and optimize site architecture, crawlability, and indexation on Shopify
Implement and maintain structured data (schema markup) across PDPs, collection pages, and editorial content
Own Core Web Vitals (LCP, CLS, INP) — diagnose issues and work with devs or implement directly via Shopify theme
Manage canonicalization, hreflang (if applicable), and redirect strategy
Monitor Search Console, resolve crawl errors, and track index health
On-Page & E-commerce SEO
Optimize collection pages, product pages, and landing pages for search
Build and maintain internal linking structures that distribute authority effectively
Develop and manage keyword clusters mapped to commercial and informational intent
Write and optimize meta titles, descriptions, and heading structures — at scale
Content SEO (in collaboration)
Work with the Content Strategist and Head of Content to build a search-first content calendar
Provide keyword research, topical authority mapping, and content briefs
Audit existing content for cannibalization, thin content, and consolidation opportunities
Ensure published content is technically sound (schema, internal links, indexation)
Measurement & Reporting
Own SEO reporting: organic traffic, rankings, CTR, conversions
Set up and maintain tracking via GA4, Search Console, and any additional tooling
Translate data into clear recommendations for the broader team
What We're Looking For
Must-haves
4+ years of hands-on SEO experience, with at least 2 years in an e-commerce context
Direct experience working in and implementing changes on Shopify (theme editing, metafields, app integrations)
Strong technical SEO skills: you can read a crawl report, fix a canonicalization issue, and implement schema without waiting for a developer
Solid grasp of on-page SEO for product and collection pages
Experience with tools like Ahrefs, Semrush, Screaming Frog, and Google Search Console
Comfortable with HTML/CSS/Liquid at a working level — you don't need to be a developer, but you shouldn't be blocked by code
Strong communicator who can collaborate with content and creative teams
Nice-to-haves
Experience with international SEO or hreflang implementation
Familiarity with GA4 and basic data analysis in Looker Studio or similar
Background in DTC / performance-driven e-commerce brands
Experience with programmatic SEO or templated page strategies at scale
How You'll Work
You'll be a core part of our growth team. Day-to-day, you'll collaborate closely with:
Content Strategist — on keyword strategy, content briefs, and editorial SEO
Head of Content — on content roadmap alignment and brand voice within SEO content
Content Manager & Claude Cowork/Code — on technical fixes, site changes, and implementation — working together to move fast without always needing a dedicated dev
