The role
We are looking for an experienced SEO specialist to significantly improve our Google rankings across all sport codes and product categories. You will own our SEO strategy end-to-end — from auditing our current setup and fixing technical issues, through to building a keyword and metadata framework that drives sustained organic growth.
This is a hands-on role working directly within our WordPress/Elementor environment, using tools such as Yoast or Rank Math to implement metadata improvements across the full site.
Key responsibilities
Conduct a full technical SEO audit and resolve critical issues (including indexation, site speed, mobile optimisation, and structured data)
Research and implement targeted keyword strategies and optimised meta titles, meta descriptions, and headings across all sport code pages, product pages, and category pages
Track, report on, and continuously improve keyword rankings, organic traffic, and conversion metrics using Google Search Console and Analytics
Develop an on-page and off-page link-building strategy tailored to the NZ sports and education sectors
Optimise local SEO presence (Google Business Profile, local citations) to capture NZ-based searches across regions
Advise on SEO-friendly content strategy for the blog and sport-specific landing pages
What we're looking for
Minimum 5 years of SEO experience, with a track record of measurable results
Hands-on experience working within WordPress (Elementor) and with SEO plugins such as Yoast SEO or Rank Math
Strong expertise in keyword research, metadata optimisation, technical SEO, and on-page content strategy
Proficiency with Google Search Console, Google Analytics (GA4), and SEO tools such as SEMrush, Ahrefs, or Moz
Familiarity with the New Zealand market and ideally the sports, education, or retail sector
Clear written communication and ability to present strategy and results to a non-technical team
Portfolio or case studies demonstrating improved rankings for e-commerce or multi-product sites
