The role
We're hiring an SEO Assistant to support delivery across our active client accounts. You'll work directly with our Senior SEO Strategist and the two founders, contributing real, accountable work from day one.
Full-time, fully remote, AEST overlap hours required (Brisbane time, GMT+10).
You will own:
Executing on-page optimisation tasks across client accounts (meta titles, H-tags, internal linking, image alt text)
Uploading and formatting content in WordPress to DCB's quality standards
Running monthly citation and directory submissions
Supporting Google Business Profile management across client accounts
Compiling ranking data and preparing reporting inputs each month
Completing audits and checklists as directed by the Senior Strategist
Who we're looking for
Must-haves:
2+ years of hands-on SEO experience, agency or in-house, with a real portfolio of work you can speak to
Solid understanding of on-page SEO fundamentals. You know why H1s matter, what a canonical tag does, and whether a page is actually structured to answer the query it's targeting
You understand anchor text strategy, not just what it is. You know the difference between branded, exact match, and partial match anchors and why getting it wrong can hurt a campaign
Technical SEO is not a mystery to you. Broken internal links, redirect chains, crawl errors, page speed issues, you can identify them, prioritise them, and explain why they matter
Brand voice matters to you. You understand that content written in the wrong tone can damage a client's credibility even if it ranks, and you treat every piece of copy as a reflection of the client's business
You use AI tools in your workflow every day, not to replace your thinking but to move faster and produce better outputs. You know how to set up and structure AI projects properly, build out prompts and workflows, and get consistent, usable output at scale. You know when AI output needs editing and you have the judgement to fix it
WordPress experience. You're comfortable working inside the CMS without breaking things
Comfortable with Google Search Console and GA4 at a basic level
Proven ability to follow a brief and hit a deadline without being chased. You've never missed a submission without flagging it first
Strong attention to detail. You follow a brief, you work a checklist, you don't cut corners
Reliable, self-directed, and honest about what you don't know yet
You're not looking for a job to coast in. You want to be genuinely good at this, and you care about working with people who hold the same standard. You follow the industry, you test things, you read, and you're always looking for ways to get better results for clients
You have ideas and you share them. When you see something that could work better, you say so. You're not waiting to be asked
Native or near-native English, written. Australian/UK English preferred
Nice-to-haves:
Experience with Ahrefs or Semrush
Familiarity with ClickUp or similar project management tools
Local SEO or GBP experience

How you think
The task list tells you what to do. It doesn't tell you why it matters or what to do when something isn't working.
We want someone who reads a client's ranking report and asks why a page dropped, not someone who waits to be told. Someone who notices an opportunity in the data and brings it up. Someone who cares whether the client is actually getting results, not just whether their tasks are ticked off.
We use AI across everything we do. We've built our own internal SEO platform around it. We're not looking for someone who dabbles. We want someone who has actually set up AI projects, built out prompts and workflows, and knows how to get consistent, usable output at scale. Someone who looks at a new client account and thinks about how to set AI up to serve that client well, not just whether to use it at all. Content that sounds generated and untouched doesn't leave our agency. Neither does AI output that wasn't configured properly in the first place.
We're not building an average agency and we're not hiring average people. The standard here is high and it stays high. If you want to work somewhere that pushes you, gives you real problems to solve, and actually invests in making you better at your craft, this is worth your time. If you're happy doing the minimum and moving on, it's not.

AUD $900 - $1,200 per month, depending on experience
