JOB OVERVIEW

We are a residential remodeling company in the NC Triangle looking for a remote permit expeditor to handle permit paperwork and online submissions for our projects.

Typical jobs:

Screen porches, decks, sunrooms, small additions

Interior remodels (kitchens/baths), attic & basement finishes

Occasional ADUs / garages

What you’ll do:

Prepare and submit building and trade permit applications (building, electrical, plumbing, mechanical, gas)

Work with online portals for:

Town of Cary

Town of Apex

Durham (City/County)

Orange County

Town of Fuquay-Varina / Wake County

Review and organize:

Site plans & surveys (setbacks, easements, property lines)

Septic/well docs or sewer connection info

Architectural/structural drawings and engineer letters

Manage DocuSign workflows:

Owner signatures

Subcontractor (electrical/plumbing/mechanical/gas) signatures

Affidavits (owner-agent, lien agent, worker’s comp, etc.)

Track status of each permit, respond to plan review comments, and keep a simple permit log (submitted / comments / approved / issued).

Must-have experience:

2+ years handling residential construction permits in the US

Hands-on familiarity with building & trade permits for remodels/additions

Ability to read site plans, surveys, and basic structural notes

Strong English communication; comfortable emailing and calling city/county permit staff

DocuSign (or similar) experience for multi-party signatures

Nice to have:

Prior work in North Carolina (Cary/Apex/Durham/Wake/Orange)

Understanding of septic approvals and coordination with Environmental Health

Engagement:

Remote, contract, flexible hours
