Remote Estimator - Construction / Home Building

Mutti Homes is a residential home builder based in Edmonton, Canada. We’re looking for an experienced Construction Estimator with a strong civil engineering background to join our team remotely. You’ll be responsible for material takeoffs, cost estimating, and creating purchase orders for our residential projects. This is a long-term position with room to grow.

What You’ll Do
• Perform detailed material takeoffs and quantity surveys from architectural and structural drawings for residential homes
• Prepare accurate cost estimates for new home builds including materials, labour, and subcontractor costs
• Create and manage Purchase Orders (POs) in JobTread and/or QuickBooks Online with zero-error quantity verification
• Review blueprints, specs, and engineering drawings to identify scope and pricing
• Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing and quotes
• Track project budgets and flag cost variances to management
• Maintain organized records of estimates, POs, and vendor pricing in our project management system
• Support the Project Manager with scheduling, procurement, and project coordination as needed
Requirements
• Civil Engineering degree or equivalent technical background
• Minimum 5 years of construction estimating experience (non-negotiable)
• Residential construction experience – must understand home building scopes, materials, and trades
• Proficient in reading and interpreting architectural and structural drawings
• Experience creating Purchase Orders in JobTread, QuickBooks, or similar construction/ERP software
• Strong knowledge of material takeoffs, cost analysis, and budget tracking
• Proficient in Excel/Google Sheets for estimating and reporting
• Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal)
• Detail-oriented with a zero-error mindset on quantities and pricing
• Reliable internet and professional home office setup
Bonus Skills
• Experience with BUILDERTREND or JOBTREAD , Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or other digital takeoff software
• Previous experience working remotely for a North American builder
• Knowledge of Canadian building codes or North American construction standards
• Experience with QuickBooks Online PO workflows and vendor management
