Location: Remote
Compensation Range: $10-14 USD/hr
Work Hours M-F 8:30-5:00 pm Must be available, responsive, and working during these hours!

We are seeking a full-time Automation Specialist & AI Architect to own our internal automation roadmap and AI strategy. Unlike a contractor who builds one-off projects, you will be a permanent member of our team, responsible for the ongoing reliability, scalability, and evolution of our AI-driven processes. You will bridge the gap between business operations and cutting-edge AI tooling.

???? Core Responsibilities

1. Architecture & Strategy (40%)
- Design and maintain the company's **automation architecture** – d ---------- when to use APIs, RPA, or custom code.
- Evaluate new AI tools (LLMs, vector databases, agent frameworks) and make build-vs-buy recommendations.
- Create and maintain technical documentation (architecture diagrams, data flow maps, runbooks).

2. Development & Implementation (40%)
- Build, test, and deploy production-grade automation pipelines using **Python** or **Node.js**.
- Integrate AI models (OpenAI, Anthropic, open-source models) into internal tools (Slack, CRM, ERP, Helpdesk).
- Develop RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) systems for internal knowledge bases.
- Maintain and optimize existing automations (troubleshooting API failures, reducing latency, cutting token costs).

3. Maintenance & Support (20%)
- Monitor automation health (error rates, API limits, data quality).
- Provide tier-3 support for broken automations; train internal staff on using automated tools.
- Implement version control (Git) and CI/CD basics for automated code.

Required Technical Skills

| Category | Specifics |
| :--- | :--- |
| **Languages** | Python (FastAPI, Requests, Pandas) **or** JavaScript/TypeScript (Node.js). |
| **AI / LLMs** | Prompt engineering (chain-of-thought, few-shot), RAG fundamentals, vector databases (Chroma, Pinecone, Qdrant). |
| **Automation** | n8n (preferred), ---------- , Zapier, or similar low-code automation platforms. |
| **APIs** | RESTful API integration, OAuth 2.0, webhooks, rate limiting handling. |
| **Data** | SQL (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and working with JSON/CSV/Parquet. |
| **Tools** | Git/GitHub, Docker (basic containers), cron jobs or task schedulers (Airflow optional). |

Preferred (Not Required, But a Plus)

- Experience with **LangChain** or **LlamaIndex**.
- Self-hosting open-source models (Ollama, vLLM).
- Prior experience in a specific domain (e.g., finance, e-commerce, healthcare automation).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS Lambda, GCP Cloud Functions, or Azure Logic Apps).

Sample Full-Time Responsibilities (Real Tasks)

- *"Maintain our customer support triage bot – retrain the RAG pipeline weekly using new helpdesk tickets."*
- *"Automate monthly financial reconciliation between Stripe, our ERP, and Google Sheets."*
- *"Build an internal ‘AI copilot’ that answers HR policy questions from our Notion wiki."*
- *"Reduce OpenAI token spend by 30% by implementing better prompt caching and smaller models for simple tasks."*

What Success Looks Like (90 Days)

| Timeframe | Deliverable |
| :--- | :--- |
| **30 Days** | Audit existing automations; document 5 biggest bottlenecks; fix 3 critical bugs. |
| **60 Days** | Deliver one new production automation (e.g., lead-to-CRM pipeline). |
| **90 Days** | Present an automation roadmap for the next quarter with ROI estimates. |

### ???? Ideal Candidate Profile

- **Resourceful:** You know when to use a $20/month API and when to write a 50-line script.
- **Systematic:** You write tests, log errors, and document your work without being asked.
- **Business-aware:** You ask "What problem are we solving?" before writing a single line of code.
- **Low-ego:** You prefer simple solutions that work over complex architectures that impress.

### ???? What This Role Is NOT

- **Not** a data scientist role (no model training from scratch).
- **Not** a front-end developer role (no UI/UX work).
- **Not** a system administrator role (though you will touch servers occasionally).

Compensation & Benefits

- Competitive base salary (based on experience and location).
- Health / dental / vision (if applicable in your country).

How to Apply

Please submit:
1. **Resume** (max 2 pages)
2. **Loom video** (3–5 minutes) walking through one automation you built – show the code, the workflow diagram, and the business impact.
3. **Answer this question:** *"You have to choose between using n8n (low-code) or a custom Python script for a new automation. What factors drive your decision?"*
