The ideal candidate will have experience editing video for YouTube and audio for podcast platforms, ensuring high-quality, polished content for both mediums. This role requires excellent attention to detail, a creative mindset, and an appreciation for literature and storytelling.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Edit video content for CraftLit’s YouTube channel, ensuring professional visual and audio quality.
Edit and produce audio-only versions of podcast episodes for non-video platforms relying on Auphonic for cleaning/leveling audio.
Sync audio and video if needed, apply transitions, add captions, and handle basic on-screen graphics as needed.
Listen for any drops or changes of clarity of audio but also clarity of content and work with the host on solutions.
Collaborate with the podcast producer to implement a cohesive editing style.
Manage and organize project files to ensure easy retrieval and revisions.
Adhere to deadlines and provide quick turnarounds when necessary, Generally, receive audio Tuesday morning, Preset audio Friday afternoon for late-night automated release.

REQUIREMENTS
Proven experience in video editing (preferably for YouTube) and podcast audio editing (please submit links as part of your application).
Proficiency in editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Audacity, Adobe Audition, Camtasia, Descript, etc.
Strong understanding of the more theatrical side of audio mixing and video production (strategic pauses allowing time for jokes to land or for import of serious topic to hit), when to leave a hard-cut and where to use a softer cross-cut, when the addition of a sound effect might be useful for getting the point across, etc.
Ability to work independently while maintaining strong communication with the team (Slack and Discord are our primary locations for communication. Telegram and Signal are fine in emergencies).
A creative eye for visuals and storytelling.
High attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
Willingness to work strategically with Creator, Social Media Specialist, and Producer (meaning if you see something going wrong, say something—even better if you have ideas for solutions).
Familiarity with literature or interest in classic novels is a plus.
ACX and/or Descript experience is a big plus.
Knowledge of SRT files and YouTube captioning is another major plus (nice to have, not a need to have)

COMPENSATION
Competitive rate based on experience.
Paid trial project will be part of the hiring process.
