JOB OVERVIEW

Hello :) I'm looking for a casual PR & Communications Assistant to support a growing Australian-based PR agency working with purpose-driven organisations and businesses.

This is a flexible, remote role that will start small (approximately 1–3 hours per week) and may increase during busy campaign periods.

The role would suit someone with public relations, communications, journalism or marketing experience, or a student/recent graduate looking to gain hands-on experience.

You will work closely with me and my graphic designer to support media relations, content development and communications activities.

Tasks may include:

• Researching journalists and building targeted media lists

• Drafting tailored media pitches for specific journalists and media outlets

• Assisting with media release development and distribution

• Monitoring media coverage and preparing coverage reports

• Conducting background research for client projects

• Researching podcasts, awards, conferences and speaking opportunities

• Managing media and stakeholder correspondence

• Following up media contacts and maintaining databases

• Drafting case studies, client success stories and award submission content

• Working alongside our graphic designer to amplify earned media coverage through social media and client communications

• General communications and project support as required

The ideal candidate will:

• Have excellent written English and strong attention to detail

• Be a strategic thinker who can identify opportunities and make recommendations

• Understand how to tailor communications for different audiences

• Be confident researching journalists and media opportunities

• Have strong organisational and correspondence management skills

• Be comfortable working independently and managing deadlines

• Have experience or a strong interest in public relations, communications, journalism or media

• Be professional, proactive and willing to learn

Experience drafting media pitches, media releases, case studies or other communications materials will be highly regarded.

Experience pitching Australian media outlets will be highly regarded, but is not essential.

A little about us

We are a small Australian PR agency supporting purpose-driven organisations and businesses. We currently have one retained client and are actively working to grow our client base and expand the agency.

While this role will begin on a casual basis, there is genuine potential for it to grow alongside the agency. I'm looking for someone who is excited by the opportunity to contribute, take ownership of their work and be part of building something over the long term.

To apply:
Use the subject line: PR Assistant – [Your Name]
Tell me about your PR, communications, journalism or marketing experience.
Tell me what hourly rate you charge in AUD.
Tell me how many hours you currently have available each week.
Share an example of a media release, pitch, case study or communications project you have worked on (study projects are welcome).

Please do not send a generic application.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to complete a small paid trial task.

I will be reviewing applications over the next two weeks and will contact shortlisted applicants directly.
