About ATOM Modular
ATOM Modular designs and delivers scalable modular building solutions. As we grow, we rely on Odoo as the backbone of our operations — from purchasing and inventory through to manufacturing, sales, and finance. We need someone who knows Odoo deeply and can keep it running the way our business needs it to.
The Role
We are looking for a hands-on Odoo Expert to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues across our Odoo environment.
This is not a passive advisory role — we need someone who rolls up their sleeves, gets into the system, and fixes things. You'll also be a key part of setting up automations to reduce manual work, supporting our migration to Odoo 19, and helping document how things are configured so our team can maintain it long-term.
The ideal candidate is either a seasoned Odoo functional expert or an automation specialist with deep Odoo knowledge who can also assist with technical workflow maintenance.
Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution
- Investigate and resolve functional issues across our active Odoo modules
- Identify root causes of data integrity problems and implement corrective actions
- Diagnose misconfigurations and misalignments between business processes and system setup
- Respond to issues raised by the internal team and resolve them in a timely manner
Configuration & Optimisation
- Adjust module configurations to reflect how our business actually operates
- Ensure settings across Accounting, Inventory, Manufacturing, Purchase, and Project are correctly aligned
- Identify gaps or inefficiencies in our current setup and recommend practical improvements
Automation (Key Part of the Role)
- Design, build, and maintain automations within Odoo — this is a core deliverable, not an occasional task
- Deeply understand Odoo's native automation tools: automated actions, server actions, scheduled actions, and workflow triggers
- Proactively identify manual or repetitive processes across all modules and implement automations to eliminate them
- Ensure automations are reliable, well-documented, and maintainable by the internal team
- Assist with technical workflow maintenance and troubleshoot automation failures as they arise
Project Costing, Budgets & Labour Tracking
- Support configuration and ongoing management of project costing and budgets
- Assist with labour tracking setup and ensure it integrates correctly with manufacturing and project modules
Odoo 19 Migration (Critical Requirement)
- Lead the migration of our current Odoo environment to the new Odoo 19 release — this is a non-negotiable part of the role
- Demonstrate prior hands-on experience migrating Odoo instances across versions (not just familiarity — actual migration experience required)
- Ensure all configurations, data, customisations, and workflows carry over correctly and are tested and validated post-migration
- Identify breaking changes between versions and proactively resolve compatibility issues
- Minimise business disruption throughout the migration process
Documentation & SOPs
- Document configurations and solutions for long-term reference and handover
- Assist in creating and maintaining Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) relevant to our Odoo setup
- Communicate findings in plain language — not everyone on the team is technical
Modules You'll Work With
- Accounting — Chart of accounts, journals, reconciliation, tax config, financial reporting
- Purchase — Vendor setup, RFQs, purchase orders, receipts, three-way matching
- Inventory — Stock management, warehousing, movements, valuation
- Manufacturing — Production orders, BOMs, work centres, operations
- Project — Task management, project tracking, costing, labour tracking, budgets
Required Skills & Experience
Essential
- 3–4 years of hands-on Odoo experience (v14 or later)
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve real functional issues — not just follow implementation guides
- Previous experience implementing Odoo into an actual business environment
- Deep working knowledge of the modules listed above
- Strong understanding of how Odoo modules interact end-to-end
- Strong, proven expertise in Odoo automation — automated actions, server actions, scheduled actions, and workflow triggers (this is a core requirement, not a nice-to-have)
- Able to communicate technical findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders
- Reliable and responsive — comfortable working asynchronously with a small team
Highly Desirable
- Experience supporting businesses in manufacturing, project-based, or construction environments
- Familiarity with Odoo accounting localisation for Australia
- Prior experience in an Odoo support or consulting capacity
- Proven, hands-on experience with Odoo version migrations — specifically to Odoo 19 or the most recent release (candidates without this experience will not be considered)
What Success Looks Like
- Issues are diagnosed quickly and resolved correctly the first time
- Automations are in place that meaningfully reduce manual work for the team
- Our Odoo environment is migrated to v19 smoothly with minimal disruption
- Configurations are clean, documented, and easy to maintain
- The team can trust that Odoo reflects how the business actually works
Why ATOM Modular
- Real operational problems — not theoretical setups
- A lean team that values expertise and clear communication
- Opportunity to make a tangible impact on a growing modular construction business
