JOB OVERVIEW

Hey there!

We’re looking for a reliable, detail-oriented freelancer to support our non-fiction publishing business on a long-term basis.

We’re a small publishing company creating books in niches like Humor/Entertainment, Religion, Teen Books, and Self-Help. Many of our projects are design- and layout-focused, so you’ll work with a mix of text + visual elements.

Role Overview (Full-Time, Long-Term)
This is a full-time position (40 hours/week). You’ll work closely with our team to help create, polish, and finalize books that are high-quality and reader-friendly.

What You’ll Do
Your responsibilities will include:
• Generating book content with the support of AI tools (we provide direction and structure)
• Editing and improving AI-generated content (clarity, tone, flow, accuracy, consistency)
• Proofreading (grammar, punctuation, formatting consistency)
• Quality-checking the final manuscript before publication
• Coordinating with our designers to ensure everything is implemented correctly

Additional responsibilities may be added over time as we grow.

What We’re Looking For
If you love books and you’re motivated, organized, and eager to learn, you’ll fit in well. These qualities matter most:

1) Reliability (Non-Negotiable)
If we assign a task with a deadline, we must be able to count on you.
If something comes up, you must proactively inform us early.
Ignoring messages, disappearing, or not keeping us updated won’t work for us.

2) Proactivity
We expect you to think ahead, spot issues, and communicate them immediately.
If you notice a mistake (ours or yours), tell us right away.
If we explain something once, we expect you to remember it and apply it moving forward.

3) Trustworthiness + Ownership
• You can work independently, make smart decisions, and act in the best interest of the business.
• You take pride in precision and deliver clean, polished work.
• You treat this role seriously (not as a casual side project).

4) Excellent English
• Native-level English (C2 or equivalent) is required.

Important: Please write the words “Orange Juice” at the end of your proposal so we know you read everything.

Payment
• $6/hour
• Occasional performance bonuses for excellent work
• Please note: pay raises above $6/hour are not possible within the next 12 months due to financial constraints.

Why This Role
Our goal is to create books people genuinely enjoy and remember. We’re looking for a long-term partner who wants to help build that vision with us.

If this aligns with how you work, we’d love to hear from you.
If not, please don’t apply.

All the best,
Christoph and Michael
