New Product Development Specialist

We’re an eight-figure direct-to-consumer backyard chicken supplement brand helping flock owners keep their chickens healthy and thriving. We’re looking for a New Product Development Specialist to help create new backyard chicken supplement products from idea to launch.
In this role, you’ll research customer needs, market trends, ingredients, and product opportunities, then work with suppliers, formulators, manufacturers, and packaging partners to bring new products to life. You’ll help manage the full product development process, including concept development, ingredient sourcing, formulation, sampling, testing, cost evaluation, production planning, and launch preparation.
What you’ll do:
* Research new product ideas for backyard chicken health and wellness
* Create product briefs with benefits, ingredients, formats, pricing targets, and positioning
* Work with suppliers, formulators, and manufacturers to develop new supplement formulas
* Source and evaluate ingredients, packaging, vendors, MOQs, pricing, and lead times
* Coordinate samples, revisions, testing, documentation, and production timelines
* Work cross-functionally with marketing, operations, supply chain, and leadership
* Keep product details, formulas, supplier information, and project timelines organized
What we’re looking for:
* Experience developing consumable products in pet supplements, animal health, human supplements, nutraceuticals, functional foods, CPG, or a related space
* Hands-on experience taking products from research and concept through sourcing, formulation, manufacturing, and launch
* Experience working with suppliers, contract manufacturers, co-packers, or ingredient vendors
* Strong project management, communication, and organization skills
* Comfort working in a fast-moving, fully remote environment
* Interest in backyard chicken wellness and creating products that genuinely help customers care for their flocks
Nice to have:
* Experience with pet, poultry, livestock, or animal supplement products
* Familiarity with powders, liquids, pellets, treats, feed additives, water additives, or other supplement formats
* Understanding of COGS, margins, MOQs, product testing, labels, and compliance documentation
* Existing relationships with suppliers, formulators, or manufacturers in the supplement or CPG space
