JOB OVERVIEW

============================================================
MICROSOFT POWER PLATFORM AUTOMATION ENGINEER
(Contractor, 30-40 Hours/Week, 100% Remote, Philippines)
============================================================

We're on the lookout for a Microsoft Power Platform Automation Engineer to join our startup. This is a fully remote contractor role of roughly 30 to 40 hours per week.

We work in sprint cycles and meet briefly each day for a team huddle, so we need someone whose hours overlap with U.S. business hours for these touchpoints.

We're hiring in the Philippines.

If you're someone who brings a positive attitude to your work, is hardworking, and is excited about being part of a growing team, we'd love to hear from you!

============================================================
COMPANY OVERVIEW
============================================================

We specialize in helping law firms streamline their operations with automations, especially through AI.

We're a Google Workspace company in the middle of pivoting to Microsoft 365, which means you'll be joining at a pivotal ---------- nt where you can help shape how we build things going forward.

As a startup, we're still building our systems and processes from the ground up, which means you'll have the chance to make a real impact right from the start. Joining us now means being part of a close, collaborative team where every voice matters.

============================================================
WHAT DOES A MICROSOFT POWER PLATFORM AUTOMATION ENGINEER DO?
============================================================

Your main role will be to build and manage advanced automation workflows for our Microsoft 365 law firm clients using Power Automate, Azure (including Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Content Understanding, Azure AI Document Intelligence, and Azure Functions), Microsoft Graph API, and custom connectors.

You'll read and implement solutions directly from developer documentation. That includes the documentation for whichever practice management, billing, e-signature, document, or messaging platform our clients happen to use (Practice Panther, LawPay, and similar tools come up regularly).

You'll also play a key part in helping us develop and refine our internal systems as we grow.

Power Automate is the engine of everything we build. This is not a learn-on-the-job skill for this role. You need to be highly proficient in it from day one, including building custom connectors when a platform's native connector doesn't exist or doesn't expose what we need.

We also build with Make, n8n, and Zapier when the work doesn't involve confidential client data. For anything sensitive, we stay inside the Microsoft ecosystem.

Some of the work you'll be doing includes building scheduled AI agents that audit cases or matters across multiple connected systems, draft documents, surface findings to a human operator, and take approved actions downstream.

Other projects include Teams Adaptive Cards connected to practice management systems, duplicate document detection using vector databases and semantic search, and content indexing within Microsoft.

This is an ideal role for someone who loves solving problems, diving deep into Microsoft's ecosystem, and building efficient, innovative solutions. The role is not client-facing. You'll work directly with our internal team.

You'll also develop basic-to-intermediate proficiency in Google Workspace tools so you can provide backup coverage for our remaining Google Workspace client during the Microsoft transition.

By joining our team, you'll be learning cutting-edge AI technologies and automation tools that are shaping the future of business operations. You'll gain hands-on experience with AI-driven solutions and Microsoft-centric platforms, setting you up for long-term career growth in a tech-driven world.

============================================================
AI AT THE HEART OF WHAT WE DO
============================================================

Artificial intelligence is central to our work. On the Microsoft side, we work with Microsoft Copilot, Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Content Understanding, and Azure AI Document Intelligence. Working familiarity with these is required.

We're also growing into Copilot Studio, Microsoft agent platforms (including Cowork), and Microsoft Dataverse as our clients' needs evolve. Hands-on experience here is a bonus, not a requirement. If you're strong on Power Automate, APIs, and AI fundamentals, you'll grow into these alongside us.

We also occasionally touch tools outside the Microsoft ecosystem (OpenAI's ChatGPT, Anthropic's Claude, Google's Gemini, xAI's Grok, Perplexity, and others) when a client's workflow calls for it. Experience with these is a plus, not a requirement.

We're looking for someone who follows AI and automation developments because they're genuinely curious, who experiments with new tools on their own time, and who gets excited when a new model, agent, or platform drops.

If you find yourself researching this stuff on weekends because you find it interesting, you'll fit right in here. The application question below about the coolest thing you've used AI for is a real one. We want to hear about it.

============================================================
DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES
============================================================

- Build and manage automation workflows in Power Automate, Microsoft Graph API, Azure Functions, and Azure AI services for our law firm clients

- Build custom connectors in Power Automate when native connectors fall short

- Read and implement solutions directly from API and Microsoft developer documentation, including third-party platform documentation (practice management systems, billing, document storage, messaging, etc.)

- Help build AI agents that audit, summarize, draft, and act on case data, with human-in-the-loop approval flows. We're building toward this with Copilot Studio and Microsoft agent platforms. Full Copilot Studio expertise isn't required to start, but you should be excited to grow into this work

- Build duplicate detection and similarity search pipelines using vector databases, semantic search, and Microsoft indexes

- Implement OCR and document intelligence workflows using Azure AI services

- Build Teams Adaptive Cards as the human-in-the-loop interface for our automations, so users can approve, edit, or submit data without leaving Teams

- Implement third-party tools such as FireCrawl when clients request web scraping or data extraction

- Write small custom code steps in Python or JavaScript inside our flows where needed. Heavy use of AI-assisted coding is fine and expected

- Work fluently with Power Automate expressions, JSON, and structured outputs

- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and refine existing workflows to ensure they run smoothly and reliably

- Research and recommend new Microsoft tools or techniques to improve efficiency

- Document workflows and processes clearly, ensuring they're easy to replicate and maintain

- Proactively identify inefficiencies and develop solutions to address them

- Collaborate with the team to brainstorm and implement creative automation ideas

- Stay up to date on trends in Microsoft automation and AI

- Provide backup support on our remaining Google Workspace client when needed

============================================================
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
============================================================

- Strong proficiency in Power Automate. This is mandatory and not trainable on the job

- Experience building custom connectors in Power Automate

- Strong working knowledge of Azure (Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Content Understanding, Azure AI Document Intelligence, Azure Functions) and basic familiarity with Microsoft Graph

- Comfortable reading and implementing APIs directly from developer documentation

- Solid handle on Power Automate expressions, JSON, and structured data

- Able to write small custom code steps in Python or JavaScript using AI assistance when needed

- Understanding of core AI concepts including OCR, document intelligence, vector embeddings, and semantic search

- Located in the Philippines

- Comfortable with light team coordination: daily team huddle and sprint cycles

- Fluent in English with strong spoken and written communication for frequent internal calls and chat

- Proactive, detail-oriented, and enjoys solving problems

- Comfortable working in a startup environment where not everything is fully established yet

- Genuinely curious about AI and automation, the kind of person who tinkers with new tools and follows the space because you find it interesting, not because it's expected

- Willing to learn basic-to-intermediate Google Workspace tools for backup coverage of our remaining Google Workspace client

============================================================
BONUS POINTS
============================================================

- Experience with Copilot Studio

- Experience with Microsoft Dataverse as a data backend for Power Platform solutions

- Experience with Microsoft agent platforms, including Cowork

- Experience building with Teams Adaptive Cards

- Experience with Make, n8n, or Zapier

- Experience with FireCrawl or similar web-scraping tools

- Experience with non-Microsoft AI APIs (OpenAI / ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, etc.)

- Previous work supporting law firms or other professional services businesses

- Experience providing cross-ecosystem backup or support

============================================================
COMPENSATION
============================================================

Base hourly pay will be based on your demonstrated skill level and experience. Pay will increase as you progress and as the company grows.
