JOB OVERVIEW

Basepoint Engineering

About Us
At Basepoint Engineering, we design and certify custom lifting equipment and structural solutions built to the highest safety standards, including ASME B30.20. Our expertise covers below-the-hook lifting devices, spreader beams, attachments, and structural components like stairs, platforms, and walkways.

We’re a nimble, remote-first Canadian engineering team providing full-cycle services—from conceptual design and load analysis to 3D/2D modeling (SolidWorks, Onshape), FEA, and manufacturing support. Our mission is to deliver practical, innovative, and safe solutions for clients who rely on precision lifting and structural systems.

The Role
We’re looking for a Mechanical/Structural Engineer to join our growing team. You’ll work on custom lifting devices and structural projects, collaborating with field teams and supporting the full engineering lifecycle—from design and analysis to fabrication support.

What You’ll Do
* Design custom lifting devices and attachments compliant with ASME B30.20
* Develop 3D models and 2D drawings in SolidWorks and/or Onshape
* Perform load analysis and finite element analysis (FEA)
* Support reverse engineering and field-based design solutions
* Collaborate with manufacturing teams to ensure build accuracy
* Contribute to projects involving stairs, platforms, and walkways

What We’re Looking For
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related field
* Proficiency in SolidWorks and/or Onshape
* Strong understanding of load analysis, structural integrity, and safety standards
* Experience with FEA (asset)
* Familiarity with ASME B30.20 (or willingness to learn)
* Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
* Comfortable working independently in a remote-first environment
* History of heavy industry steel related manufacturing
* History of computational engineering including free body diagrams and calculations for determining capacity of steel structures

Why Join Us
You’ll work directly with an experienced senior engineer on real, high-impact projects, starting with smaller designs and scaling up as we grow together. We value flexibility, learning, and collaboration in a supportive, remote-first setup.
If you’re ready to apply your mechanical and structural expertise to meaningful, hands-on engineering projects—we’d love to hear from you.
