Lead Software Engineer

Who We’re Hiring
You’ll be the first technical hire across multiple AI-driven ventures, starting with SmarterBoard — a live transcription and visual board system designed for professors, creators, and educators. Think speech ? structure ? visuals ? output. Future projects may span AI automation, education tools, voice-to-interface systems, and lightweight internal SaaS products.

This is not an implementation-only role. You’ll own product architecture, write production-level code, and help define what we build.

Your Work in the First 3–6 Months
Build the SmarterBoard MVP: voice input ? real-time text + shape output ? offline-capable board

Integrate Whisper (or similar) locally for transcription

Create minimal, fast frontends to visualize spoken content

Connect logic for voice-triggered actions (e.g. “draw circle,” “clear screen”)

Spin up infrastructure to support pilots, save/load sessions, and eventually scale

Evaluate and integrate new AI APIs or local models as needed

Contribute to 1–2 parallel internal tools (e.g., AI wrappers for workflow tools, note-takers, etc.)

What You’ll Need to Already Know
How to build fullstack MVPs from scratch (frontend, backend, basic infra)

How to integrate AI models (Whisper, OpenAI, Vosk, etc.)

How to run models locally, not just call APIs

How to write clean, modular, shippable code without constant oversight

How to debug, test, and document code you fully own

Tech Stack (What We’ll Likely Use)
Frontend: React, Next.js, Tailwind, WebSockets

Backend: Node.js, Python (Flask or FastAPI), SQLite/Postgres, Supabase

AI Layer: OpenAI API, Whisper.cpp, AssemblyAI, Vosk, ElevenLabs, LangChain

Infra: GitHub, DigitalOcean, basic Linux, Docker, Vercel

Workflow: Notion, Slack, Trello or Linear (low process, high output)

You Should NOT Apply If:
You’ve never built a full app solo

You’ve only worked on frontend components or "tasks"

You don’t know how to troubleshoot models locally

You’re juggling multiple client projects or jobs

You expect product managers or designers to tell you what to do
