We are a specialized church and ministry accounting practice ( ---------- ) focused exclusively on supporting churches, Christian ministries, and faith-based non-profits across Canada.

Our work is not general bookkeeping. It is centered on church finance systems, donation stewardship, fund accounting, payroll structures, and CRA charity compliance. Our clients depend on us not only for accurate bookkeeping, but for reliable financial reporting that supports ministry leadership and stewardship decisions.

This is a fully remote contractor role, designed for experienced accountants who are comfortable working with Canadian organizations in a structured, deadline-driven environment. We operate fully virtually from Vancouver, BC.

Details of the Role
Many churches and ministries struggle with bookkeeping, reporting, and compliance—not because they lack heart, but because they lack time and financial expertise.
In this role, you will help churches:
• Maintain clean, accurate, and audit-ready books
• Meet CRA charity and payroll requirements
• Provide clear financial reports to pastors, boards, and congregations
• Give ministry leaders peace of mind so they can focus on their mission

Core Responsibilities
• Full-cycle bookkeeping for churches and registered charities
• Monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
• Donation and fund tracking (restricted and unrestricted funds)
• Payroll (pastors, staff, housing allowances, benefits)
• Accounts payable & receivable
• GST/HST rebate tracking for charities
• Financial statements and variance analysis for boards
• Year-end preparation and coordination with external auditors
• Supporting compliance with CRA charity rules and best practices

Technology Stack
• QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop
• TaxDome for workflow, task management, and client communication
• Church and ministry platforms including PowerChurch, ---------- , and Planning Center
• Additional tools may include Hubdoc, Wagepoint, Plooto, Google Workspace, Zoom, and other best-in-class nonprofit and church accounting tools
• You must be comfortable learning and adopting new web-based software quickly

Job Fit Criteria
To be considered a strong fit, you must meet the following:
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience using QuickBooks Online or Desktop in a professional bookkeeping or accounting capacity
• Educational background in accounting (college diploma, certificate, degree, or equivalent training)
• Experience working with churches, charities, or nonprofits (highly valued)
• Available for 15–30 hours per week, working remotely
• Able to update books at least every 2–3 days and respond to emails within 2–3 business hours
• Certified and experienced in QuickBooks Online
• Strong ability to work independently in a structured remote environment with deadlines and systems
• Own computer, fast internet, and a professional, quiet home office suitable for video calls
• Experience preparing year-end working papers and supporting audits or reviews is highly desirable
