Highly Experienced Graphic Designer + Web Production Lead (no code experience required) - AU Studio - Long-term Role

I'm AJ, owner of an Australian design studio that's been running for 25+ years. We build websites, do graphic design (print, social, brand identity, packaging) and marketing / social media. I'm hiring one experienced graphic designer to join the team long-term and become my right hand on the production side of the business.

## About the role

The role is going to be interesting and probably a bit different to what you're used to. The position is full-time and long-term. The reason the role will be interesting is because it's split between no code web development (majority of the work), PA work and Graphic design work.

The job split is roughly:

- 70% web production - steering Claude Code AI agent to build websites that look amazing, within a couple of frameworks we use. You'll ensure the sites content, design, information etc are correct, gathering content, optimising images, doing design-direction QC, launching sites and creating training videos showing clients how to use their website CMS. You don't need a single bit of coding experience - just a super intelligent way of approaching problems and helping the AI (which is incredibly intelligent itself) to get to the correct outcome and goal.
- 10% graphic design - logos, social media packs, brochures, branded documents, packaging, signage briefs, the full mix
- 15?min / project management - tracking client work in Asana, gathering content from clients, scheduling
- 5% misc - light server admin, learning new tools, occasional ad-hoc

The web work uses Claude Code (Anthropic's AI coding assistant) as the technical engine. You do NOT need coding skills - the AI handles ALL the coding. Your job on web work is design judgement, content input, image work, understanding Aussie culture from design and language point of view, creating high quality English training videos, quality control, testing on multiple devices etc. I will train you on all of this fully.

The graphic design work is real, varied, and currently bottlenecked because I am the only one doing it. Clearing that backlog and keeping it cleared is part of why this role exists.

DO NOT apply for this position if you primarily want to work on graphic design projects - this position is mostly design-leading claude code to build amazing websites for our clients, and collecting client info and content and ensuring all content and information is in the websites correctly and that each site design is amazing. Effectively, you will be steering the AI with a lot of human touches. When there's nothing to do on any websites (or Claude is off working), you'll do PA or Graphic Design work in the gaps.

## About you

You absolutely must have - in order of importance:

- Excellent written and spoken English. You will read client briefs, write copy in my voice, and we will communicate in writing daily.
- A curious mind who enjoys learning new things and ways of doing things and the ability to problem solve your way around issues.
- A Mac. The studio runs on Macbook Pros and our toolchain is not reliable on Windows.
- Strong graphic design portfolio with range - brand identity, print, social/digital, packaging or signage. Not just logos. Not just one client.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign at minimum)
- Confident with technology generally. You will learn Claude Code, Statamic CMS, and our existing tools. You do no need to a coder, or have any experience, but comfortable with software and the ability to learn.
- Reliable internet and a professional working setup.

### Nice-to-haves:

- Any prior web design experience (Custom work, Webflow, WordPress, Squarespace, Wix - any of them)
- Any experience with terminal use on your Mac - Claude Code (your main tool) runs via terminal and all input is put into the terminal.
- AI tool fluency. You have used ChatGPT, Claude, Midjourney, or similar for real work.
- Australian or English-language brand familiarity.

What I am specifically looking for: design judgement. Across every project. The thing that separates a good outcome from a mediocre one is whether the person doing the work can tell when something looks off and cares enough to fix it. That is the hire we need and will create a long-term ongoing position for.

## The work environment

- Long-term role, not contract gig. We want someone for years.
- Mostly async, with occasional Zoom calls.
- I am in Melbourne, Australia (AEST). You work your normal Philippines hours (possibly starting slightly earlier than you might usually, at 8am if needed); we overlap several hours per day.
- Weekly written check-ins, monthly reviews.
- Performance-based rate increases.
- We do not use Timeproof or tracking unless we feel your work output isn't meeting our metrics
- Payment for the trial and trial period of 1-2 months will be via the OnlinePH jobs portal, ongoing payments if you are successfully hired will be via the Remote ( ---------- ) platform

## Compensation

Initial rate will be between USD$4-$8 per hour, depending on qualifications, experience, portfolio and trial outcome. Rate will be reviewed twice annually with rate increases tied to performance. If you increase my business income with your good work, your rate will increase with it.
