ABOUT THE ROLE:
I am looking for an elite, high-retention video editor specializing strictly in the FINISHING PASS for a fast-growing horror gaming channel.
If you are a master of comedic timing, psychological horror pacing, and retention editing mechanics, this is for you.
THE WORKFLOW (Why this job rules):
You will NEVER have to sit through hours of raw gameplay or look for the storyline. I do 100% of the heavy lifting on the rough cut. I will hand you a tightly chopped, fully synchronized 10-minute timeline sequence.
Your entire job is to take my locked narrative cuts and elevate them into a highly produced, un-skippable piece of content.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Technical Asset Conversion: Native capability handling massive 3840x1080 dual-canvas raw recording streams. You will format, scale, zoom, and frame the gameplay and facecam tracks across my existing cuts.
2. Advanced Sound Design & Scoring: Layering immersive audio environments (e.g., creepy ambient tones, footsteps, sudden sub-bass drops, and sharp jump-scare stingers). You must master the "Pacing Contrast" technique—using quirky, upbeat background instrumentals during exploration that violently drop to absolute dead silence the exact millisecond a scare or reaction occurs.
3. Dynamic VFX & Motion Effects: Executing tracking elements, visual punch-ins, camera shakes, and targeted zoom transitions to maintain high viewer retention.
4. Stylized Visual Captions: Creating clean, highly accurate, animated word-by-word pop-up subtitles with selective color-highlighting for high-intensity or funny moments.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Deeply embedded in Western gaming YouTube culture (you understand modern pacing, retention trends, and comedic timing).
- Reliable, fast communication and strict adherence to deadlines.
- Must have an active subscription or access to a premium, high-tier audio library (like Epidemic Sound) for separated instrument stems and advanced sound FX.
HOW TO APPLY:
To prove you read this entire posting and pay attention to detail, please reply with:
1. A link to a portfolio or short showreel demonstrating your BEST gaming/horror sound design and retention effects.
2. A brief sentence explaining how you handle audio-ducking or pacing changes when a jump scare happens.
3. Confirm you can smoothly process 3840x1080 ultrawide source files.
Selected candidates will be given a short, 60-second PAID test edit sequence to showcase their skills. I look forward to working with you!
