Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 7:30 PM Philippine Time (1-hour unpaid break included)
Total Work Hours: 48 hours per week under a compressed workweek schedule

About the Role:

We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented Book Layout Editor / Book Designer who can handle the final layout, formatting, and visual design of books, including book cover design and inside-book illustrations or graphics when needed.

The ideal candidate must know how to turn edited manuscripts into clean, professional, reader-friendly, and print-ready books based on the required book size and printing specifications.

This role requires strong attention to book sizing, margins, spacing, typography, font design, chapter layout, page consistency, bleed, gutter, trim area, safe zones, and proper file preparation for offset printing, cutting, and binding.

We need someone who can create modern, attractive, and marketable book interiors, covers, and visual elements suitable for Filipino readers.

Responsibilities:

- Layout and format book interiors based on the required book size and printing specifications
- Design professional and marketable book covers for print and digital use
- Set up chapters, headings, page numbers, table of contents, preface, introduction, and other book sections
- Choose and apply appropriate fonts, font sizes, headings, spacing, and typography style
- Adjust margins, bleed, gutter, trim area, and safe zones for cutting, binding, and offset printing
- Ensure proper alignment, spacing, readability, page consistency, and overall book presentation
- Prepare print-ready files with correct book size, cover size, spine width, bleed, and margin setup
- Create or add simple illustrations, icons, diagrams, visual elements, and inside-book graphics when needed
- Ensure all illustrations and visual elements match the book’s theme, message, and target readers
- Check that the manuscript layout is clean, balanced, readable, and suitable for the target market
- Create modern and visually appealing layouts for business, self-help, motivational, educational, and practical guide books
- Coordinate with the editor or publishing team for corrections and revisions
- Review final files before submission to printing
- Submit editable source files and final export files as required
- Meet agreed deadlines without sacrificing design quality

Qualifications:

- Experience in book layout, formatting, publishing design, or print design
- Experience creating book covers is required
- Can create simple book illustrations, diagrams, icons, or visual elements for interior pages when needed
- Knowledgeable in book sizing, interior layout, font design, margin setup, bleed, gutter, trim area, safe zones, and offset printing file preparation
- Strong eye for typography, spacing, alignment, layout, and visual hierarchy
- Can prepare files for print, cutting, binding, and final production
- Can design modern, clean, professional, and market-friendly book interiors and covers
- Familiar with tools such as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, or other layout/design software
- Detail-oriented, organized, and deadline-driven
- Can follow brand guidelines, book specifications, and printing instructions carefully
- Open to feedback and revisions
- Can work independently with minimal supervision
