The Finance Manager will oversee all financial aspects of our e-commerce business, ensuring accurate reporting, strategic planning, and operational efficiency. This role requires a proactive leader with expertise in managing financial workflows for an online retail environment, including revenue tracking, cost management, and compliance. The Finance Manager will collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive profitability, with a particular focus on analyzing Shopify reports and optimizing paid media buying strategies to maximize returns.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Planning & Analysis: Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial models tailored to e-commerce revenue streams (e.g., sales, subscriptions, marketplace fees).
Revenue Management: Monitor and reconcile sales data from e-commerce platforms, with a focus on Shopify, alongside payment gateways and bank accounts.
Shopify Report Analysis: Analyze Shopify reports (e.g., sales, traffic, conversion data) to identify trends, assess performance, and provide actionable insights for business growth.
Paid Media Strategy: Evaluate paid media buying performance (e.g., Google Ads, Meta Ads) using financial and Shopify data, recommending the most profitable strategies to optimize ad spend and ROI.
Cost Control: Oversee expenses including inventory, shipping, marketing campaigns, and third-party vendor fees to enhance profitability.
Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, providing insights into KPIs such as gross margin, customer acquisition cost, and lifetime value.
Cash Flow Management: Ensure adequate liquidity for operations, manage working capital, and coordinate with suppliers or lenders as needed.
Compliance & Risk: Ensure adherence to tax regulations, sales tax collection (e.g., VAT, state taxes), and financial policies; mitigate risks related to fraud or currency fluctuations.
Team Collaboration: Partner with marketing, operations, and supply chain teams to align financial goals with business strategies, particularly in media buying decisions.
Systems & Processes: Maintain and improve financial tools (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, ERP systems) and integrate Shopify data to streamline reporting and transaction tracking.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
5+ years of experience in financial management, with at least 2 years in e-commerce or retail.
Proven expertise in analyzing Shopify reports and translating data into business recommendations.
Strong understanding of e-commerce revenue models, payment processors, and paid media buying dynamics.
Proficiency in financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite) and advanced Excel skills.
Analytical mindset with the ability to recommend profitable strategies based on data-driven insights.
Excellent communication skills and experience collaborating with marketing and operations teams.
Knowledge of tax compliance and international transactions is a plus.
